Replacing Vehicle Speed Sensor.

Replacing Vehicle Speed Sensor.
Is replacing the vehicle speed sensor on my truck something that I would be able to do myself? I have only basic mechanical skills. I change my oil, do my own tune ups, rotate my tires, and simple things like that. I've got an estimate from the dealership and they said that it would be about $65. Just wondering if I can do it myself and save a little cash.

RE: Replacing Vehicle Speed Sensor.
Be very careful when taking it out. The o-ring gets stuck and if you pry on it to much it will snap off in the rear diff. It is not the end of the world. You will just have to pull the rear cover, but it will take up more time. Try to twist and pull when getting it out.

RE: Replacing Vehicle Speed Sensor.
I just took what I thought was the sensor out of the rear end. The first nut held down a line, the second held down a metal guard, after that the bolt came out. After a while, what I thought was the sensor came out. I think I might have pulled out the wrong part. When the thing came out it exposed a hole in the rear end. I think this is where you put fluid in. So where is the sensor? HELP!
