Default Throttle Bodies ?'s

So i've heard many diffrent things about these TB's. I've heard that they dont do much for dodges. And i also heard that they are one of the best things to get for performance.
So which is it????

a larger throttle body doesnt really do much. you wont really notice much of a diffrence. it is however a decent supporting piece if your going to be doing more work later.

I agree with Indy on that one, its just one of those 'weigh your option' kinda things, sure you get a little bit more power and possibly a little more 'quick response' from the pedal, but you will for sure notice a mpg decrease, and we all know how already low those are lol

I couldn't disagree more. The Fastman TB was one of the best performance mods I have done. Really improved throttle response. Very noticable mod. I installed mine the same week that I did a new muffler, and the combination yielded a solid 2 mpg increase. Do a search, you'll see my thread on it from way back. Others have reported good mpg gains too.

It is the TB spacers that are worthless.

wow you got a mpg increase by switching to a bigger TB? hows that work? bigger TB = more fuel flowing right? or am i completley wrong about that?

It's all about efficiency. What can happen is that when you have a more efficient engine, you need less throttle to do the same acceleration as you once needed. Thus, you can get a performance gain, but you can gain mpg too (when driven conservatively). If you read my post from back then, the mpg gain was only present if I kept my foot out of it (which is hard to do when you have noticable better performance).

50mm is stock. Many choose to run the 52mm that Fastman offers. I wouldn't go any bigger than that on a stock 5.9

The usual recommendation is no bigger then 50mm for a 5.2, and 52mm for the 5.9. They say a 5.9 will have a little better low end if you stay with a 50mm.

I think the Fastman TB is so good not because of bore size, but because of all the other cleanup and porting that is done to make it flow better. The stock TB on a 5.2 is already 50mm, but it cones to 48mm. All he does is make it 50mm from top to bottom, but the rest of the stuff he does probably makes it flow better.
