Anyone use the K&N filter in their stock setup? I was trying out my FRAM Tough Guard, and doesn't seem to breathe all that great, thought I might be affecting the idle/acceleration. I was also looking at an AirRaid filter, but I'm not familiar how well those perform. Also, how are the K&N oil filters?

The design of the stock air filter assembly is the main restriction, not the filter itself. No filter will yeild much (if any) gain when placed in the stock assembly.

So I suppose I should refer more to the never-ending air intake debates?

This seems to be a pretty popular option, add a $2 free shipping item and you can get it shipped free.

Well I'm not looking for a serious upgrade, and the K&N's run a little high for want I want to pay. Was thinking for a home brewed intake. Might go with the mr.gasket until i figure out what i'll do exactly. Nice price. All I need is the S-Bolt to run that right?

If you read that thread, and the one in the DIY section, you will see that a few people actually stopped using intakes they purchased in exchange for this one. Its not really a temporary or half @$$ solution.

Mines on its way!

It just seems to easy. Once I get these little repair things (come to find out this truck appears to be a past cement hauler) done, how much of a performance increase would the mr gasket and a fastman be?

And the stand-alone breather for the valve cover.

If you put both of those on at the same time, you would feel a nice difference in throttle response. It will be very noticable, and you will likey.
