I am going to give the Fastman a try when mine goes. I think it is pretty close to it. 83K, shifts are irratic, overdrive is a complete dog, drop down/passing gear is nonexistant at times.

the transmission shop I am taking mine to was recommeded to me by a couple of local shops I have known for a while. Plus the tranny shop has been around for about 20yrs. the owner talked to me about what they do. they don't not use dodge parts at all. he said that i would be back there doing the same repairs all over again. he uses all heavy duty replacements and can do other mods. I just want it fixed and I bet thats why I was getting poor gas mileage also. no TQ lockup and it was slipping all the time.

I'd rather pay more to have it done right, than to have it done cheaply and poorly.

I just put my other car (VW Golf) in the shop now, got the call and its $1300 for that to be fixed. at the moment I think I just want to invest in a 21speed mountain bike.

bye bye tax refund.

Car trouble do suck. It's actually kind of funny though, my truck works fine and I put more miles on my Specialized FSR than I do on the truck. (I know this doesn't help you, your comment just made me think of it though)

Funny thing is that I only put on about 10K a year. so if the tranny is good for another 100K after the rebuild, then its mine for the next 10 years.

I need a bike, I used to ride a FZR600 back in the early 90's. I sure miss it.

If it is built right with after market parts, not ****ty mopar parts, it will last longer than 100k. After these transmissions are built in stock form correctly with a few minor upgrades, they are incredibly tough trannys.

I'm the same way. I don't know if I will ever sell my truck. I am dumping probably 6k or so into it right now. I thought seriously about trading it in on a new truck but after looking at them I decided I didn't want to spend 50k + for a truck that wasn't really even like I wanted it yet. I probably would have easily put another 5k into it in mods to get it like I wanted. My truck now is close to how I want it and could have it in darn near perfect shape for 10k which is a whole lot cheaper than a new one. I decided to go ahead and just fix mine and keep it for quite a while. I may get a new car or something later on but hope to still have the truck to use when I need a truck. I need a truck at times to tow or go places I can't take a car. It doesn't matter if it's an older truck as long as it gets me there and back. I'm planning on using my truck for stuff like that and maybe dd it a little so I'd like it to last for quite a while.
