hometheatreman - I am there with you. at this stage i invested more than i would ever want to so i am going to drive it until the body rots off. if you see a guy driving around on a frame and 4 bald tires, be sure to wave and beep at me.

this is me in about 10years in my 98 ram.

Well see my problem is that my body is starting to go to hell, rust on the doors, rockers, And i cant justify dumping a crap load of money into a 11 year old truck, when i could buy a newer truck with 30,000 miles for 18,000$$. Dont get me wrong im gonna keep my truck until its ready to go to the boneyard, but in a couple years it will be demoted to firewood pickup, and woods buggy. I would love to rebuild the damn thing from the ground up butI hate working on stuff, because that is my proffesion working on heavy equipment. The last thingI wantto doafter working on **** for 12 hours is to come home and work on my truck. I actually don't even want to look at a 1/2 wrench when im home, on my own time

I called the tranny shop and they are going to put a shift kit in to it. if I plan on towing anything I bring it back for them to install a black external cooler. I think a shift kit is a good idea since I plan on keeping it for a long time. with the weight of the truck alone it will help save the clutches.

shift kit was $120 more and the add-on cooler would be $225 or so.

Then don't criticise people for wanting a durable transmission that will outlast the vehicle. Some of us LOVE wrenching in our spare time. I recently spent the weekend pulling the engine and transmission out of my 2002 Cavalier and just loved it no matter the frustrations.

Serious question: Every one of your posts seem like blantant trolling. Are you just here to be a PITA or do you have any inkling to help people and/or pass along any technical knowledge?

Me or the thforce55555?

If me...
I would love to work on it myself, but have no clue about automatic tranny's. I am sure I am asking more questions than I could ever answer, uness this forum changes to Computer related items, then I would be of more value.

Sounds like a wise move. I don't think the stock aux cooler is all that great

Yeah, but I cant afford to to the cooler now, just the shift kit. cooler maybe when I take it in for its routine tranny service (filter, new oil and band adjustment). I can tell my wife there was an issue...
she already knows the truck has become the money pit.

You realize you can get a bulletproof APS shipped to your door for that much right...? Thats the highest I've heard for a regular rebuild. You got hosed.

When I got prices from APS back in Oct. I think the cheapest one was right over $3000 and the one like I got with a shift kit and stuff was a fair amount more. It would be about a 800 difference plus then you have to install it yourself or pay a shop to do it. I guess the prices are still the same. When I ordered mine 2 months later we used the same sheet and it came out to the same prices.
