Try a magnaflow muffler, Stainless steel so it won't rust out as quickly and it's a little more tame in the cab.

Get some 4.88 gears in there and it'll haul ***
Ahh if I only I could afford it! It is def. something I'll consider doing when I have to replace this current transmission 2-3 years from now

What does replacing the gears have to do with replacing the transmission? Wasn't your tranny acting up? You think it will last 2 years? Mine started getting worse quickly after the problems started.

Well according to some people you cant feel 5-10 extra Hp, so your probably putting more than 20-30 extra hp out, if you can feel it

Your ring and pinion gears are in your axels not your transmission.
I'm going to try to find 1-tons that have 4.10s in them this summer. Those will have to make do for a little bit.

I know the gears aren't in the transmission, but I don't want to put that kind of money in gears into the truck until I see how long I can get life out of this transmission. The trucks seems to have a ton of power as of now, so those 4.88s will have to be on a hold until the truck can prove to me to go through at least a year stretch of minimal issues. I tend to keep this truck for years, I really like it, but if **** hits the fan I'll have to see if it's finanically affordable to keep on it. So far so good, if she lasts, gears will def. be upgraded in years to come.

But that sounds like a great idea with the one-ton deal. If you can get away with paying cheap money or for free grabbing them from a one-ton, you'll be very happy. Im pretty sure my truck has the 4.10s that came stock with the truck, and they seem to pull the truck with ease with the 35's. Then again, me and sirhilton started having thoughts if perhaps the previous owner added 4.56s in them considering the truck has a really intense pull out of 1st gear. 4.10s with your 285s would probably be pretty darn sweet, especially since you have a single cab short bed, thing probably hauls ***.

Well the 285s won't be on there when I get the one tons on. 36 inch TSLs are going on those puppys. and i think the 4.10s will pull them around okay till I can re-gear it.

HAHA phat! Yeah it should be fine. If I infact have the 4.10s with the 35s, then you will be very pleased still. I know I am. 36s will look mint on that truck.

According to most of the RPM charts I've read running 33s with 3.55 gears is about the equivelant of running 4.10s with 38 or 39 inch tires. So I'll still be picking up some power. Plus I'm getting the strength or Dana 60s with all the goodies that come with them (selectable lockers, more gear options, More differential cover options). Deffinetly seems like the thing to do.
