Auto Tranny Update - Mobil1 ATF +1
Well I had my tranny overhauled for 985+ Tax. Not sure what the problem was, wasn't anything in particular mentioned, but the truck ran fine on the 800+ mile trip. Started running a little funny around the mountains in Virginia but I put about half a qt of Mobil1 ATF fluid in and it ran great. So I gotta say I'm a bandwagon Mobil1 fan now. Still want to put RP in my oil but if Mobil1 Syn. Oil is as good as the ATF then I see what all the hooplah is about.
What I do need however, is that Magnaflow Cat. I think it's building up backpressure and I was hearing a clanking sound while Idling.

Well no codes yet. But I've had a nagging feeling several of my issues are partly due to a clogged or clogging cat. 160 bucks and it seems like I can replace it myself, I'm just cautious because I want to throw on a flowmaster or dynaflow or maybe a thrush muffler so I'm thinking a shop may be a better way to go for that. I'm unfamiliar with welding and really don't want to get familiar with it, lol. Not with what I have available anyway.

I just bought this Magnaflow one.
Direct bolt in.
More expensive than just buying just the converter section but easier to install for a DIY'er.

The shipped out really fast and shipping was included.
I haven't installed it but it looks to be better quality than the OEM and more free flowing. So far I'm impressed.
I think they have a 10% off sale now and may offer additional discounts to Military and Internet forum enthusiasts

It has been some years ago
but a direct call to the Mobil One 800 telephone number
about whether I could use Mobil One ATF in a 1995 46RH auto
eventually led to an engineer at Mobil
telling me that its characteristics
would lead to higher wear on
the torque converter lockup clutch friction surfaces.

Well it wasn't slipping at all, it was shifting great. I didn't think there was anything to be aware of till HankL. Ok I think there was a misunderstanding from the title, I meant plus1 as in props or in support of, not the actual product. I'm not sure what kind of Mobil1 ATF it was, but there was only one type and it was reddish. I'll check that out later. But the tranny has run fine.
