Default Universal Cat.

How do you tell if they come pre-slotted for an o2 sensor?

is that something the shop installing the cat would do?

I'm looking at this one right now, a Catco.

Correct. When I had my exhaust done and figured out that my 2001 was NOT that way, the way most of our 2nd Gen Dodge Rams are, the mechanic showed me a picture.

The sensor goes, basically, above and inbetween the two in-flow pipes. The cat has to have the socket for it, the muffler shop cannot put a hole in a cat for it.

A universal can still work, just require a bit more custom work by the exhaust guy(s) and more $$$ in labor.

Actually, to have the shop gut your cat and put in a universal with O2 is cheaper than getting the 2:1. No welding, just clamps. I got a labor quote for under $100, but didn't want to have it "rigged".

I looked up the make/model on summit and it came up with a 200 dollar Catco universal cat. 206 is for the direct fit. SO that method doesn't work, lol.

I clicked on a few links on this forum to one's in ebay, but I didn't notice an o2 slot. I don't want to gut my cat AND add a glasspack, that's too obnoxious for my taste.

Put in a cat inside the gutted one? Huh?
Hmm, not quite.

they gut your cat, then add the universal after yours. Is your Cat a 2 in to 1? do what I should have done, get the Magnaflow one for $180 or so, and it bolts on to your headers then use clamps from there on out. I'd get 2 new O2's. I gained some MPG's from it.

Yeah I was going to buy the direct fit, but summit raised there price this past week, it's 206 now.

Also, I can't personally cut off the current piping, so I'd have to take it to a shop. Now, that being said, is it still worth getting the direct fit or hopefully come up with a universal 2.1 cat and have them install that?

My replacement cat was a walker Part #50505.
But have seen the cheaper magnaflow for $150 or so. Summits sells it, this one bolts on and uses clamps http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=mpe-23285
