duraliner drop in?
Now that I have my truck back finally, I'm focusing on just kind of wrapping the truck up. The truck doesn't have a bed liner and I'd like to address it. I've priced out linex, and it's just A LOT of money...like $550. To me, that's rediculous. I hardly use my bed enough to spend that. Sure I'd love to have it, but that's a lot of money just to say you have LINEX. I can get installed a duraliner drop in bed liner under the rails for $180. It will clean the truck up and protect the bed , and it's the best drop in liner available. What do you guys think?

personally not a fan of drop in liners because it will hold moisture under the liner and cause your bed to rot from the inside out, and if theres any existing scratches in the bed it will go even faster. ide spend the extra money and either pay linex or buy a kit and do it yourself. Buy a kit at autozone called Hurculiner heard alot of people saying on here they love it. Take a weekend prep it right and do it yourself, prob about the same price as doing the drop in.

I know when im done with my drop in... im going to linex or similar style bed liner. If your going for a show truck, don't go drop in. That liner will shimmy around and scratch your bed up pretty bad as said above. My friend has the linex in his truck and I have to admit that it holds up very well. My only fear of the linex is, if I spill paint from my summer job.... For a drop in, you can rip it out and slap a new one in. What do you do for linex? That reason, and the $$ is the only reason I do not have linex. Put that 180 towards your loan. And if you want to buy something pretty bad. How about looking into a rubber mat. Jc whitney may carry something like that

Herculiner is only like $80 or so for the kit and I've read some really good reviews and some that weren't so good. It seems that the bad reviews were due most likely to not doing the proper preparation to your bed. Apparently you have to sand/scuff it up quite a a bit to get it to adhere. It would definitely be the cheapest way to go and if you take your time you could make it look really good. You could always buy a little extra to make it as thick as you wanted as well.

I'm not a fan of spray in bed liners because if I ever want to take it out I want to be able to take it out. I don't want it permanent. The other thing is they are extremely expensive.
That being said I have a drop in bed liner that came with my truck when I got it. I like it. It does scratch around the edges like they said though and will tear the paint up underneath. I have never pulled one out to look but can see it trapping moisture like they said too. On the good side it does protect the bed, resonable price, and you can take it out whenever you want.
I agree though probably not a bad idea to apply that towards the loan and get that payed off faster so you pay less interest.
I have a bed mat thing like mentioned overtop of my bed liner also. It's nice to keep stuff from sliding around.

i have the stock dodge drop-in. well it may not be stock. its under the rails. and it loooks good. but personnaly i would like to do a spray in. but dont avhe the money.
i ahte dropins for all the reasons listed. but this apst summer i spilled about 6 gal of used oil in the bed of my truck (yeah im a lil retarded) and it got under the liner, and i had to not only clean the liner but the bed. and everything underneath my truck! hug pain the butt i had to pull out my toolbox and everything. with a spray in it would have been alot easier. just make sure you secure all 5gal buckets and lids properly before going to dump oil. there was a nice a oil slick in the road too (oops)
moral of the story if you cant afford the linex i would say get the DIY stuff and do it right.
