And this is where not going to school hurts mechanics, they missed out on the lesson on how to attract repeat customers. You just get these bozos who want to hit the jackpot. Honestly, if a mechanic cut some corners for me and gave me consistent good prices, we'd be back there all the time. But nope, they give you a couple good prices, and then they WHACK you, so I'm just whacking them back and getting my damn truck outa there, fuc* 'em. I'm excited to work on the truck anyways, it's going to be fun. I'm going to buy an assload of my favorite cigars, and make it a fun project. I mean, I understand why mechanics jack **** up, because they are trying to make a living, so sure whack the customer that doesn't come often. But the repeat customers, you'd be much better off not pissing them off with absurd bills, but I guess it's another shop to learn the hard way. Besides, I've had my fair share of learning it the hard way, amen.
If you know they are cutting corners why do you accept their work? This is why your **** is always in there.

There was a guy at Midas who kept tryin to work with me (eventually we cut a deal 400 for all four tires, new and an oil change lol) but when he told me the ball joints, tie rod end, and pads were going to be about 2 grand, is when I learned I gotta start this thing myself. Best decision I made.

With a haynes or chiltons manual, the internet, and enough beer you can accomplish just about anything mechanical. Just takes time and patients.

Well I more so referring to cutting corners money wise, like a deal. For example, the people who do the detailing for our vehicles, he knows how to make business. I bring him a vehicle, and he'll do it full price. The next I come in, he does it half off. The next vehicle is a little less than full price. Now all our vehicles get detailed for never the full price, which is just good consistent business. Detailing and Mechanics, a little different, but same concept. Anyways, as I said, this will be fun busitng into this. I will take a lot of pix tonight when we open it up to check the housing out, lata guys.

Paying someone else to detail your vehicle is a deffinite waste of money. Unless it's been in a flood or something like that. Even then I'd just do it myself. Hell I do at least once a month in the summer time.

Iuse todetail cars proffessionally when I was a teenager, and I have to say it's rip off. You charge someone about $150 do use about $20 worth of chemicals on your vehicle. The only time I seriously hated that job is when someone brought in a minivan. These people shouldbeat the hell out oftheir kids... always lolipops and **** shoved down in the cracks where the seatbelts comes from, and crap in the cup holders, and gum under the seats. I'd rather pull the seats and carpet out of my truck after I just ran it through deep water and mud anyday over cleaning one more soccer moms minivan...
Oh and occassionally some dip**** who can't control their vehicle crosses over a freshly painted yellow line and you have to claybar the crap out of their car.

I use to paint and sandblast water towers too, andone timethe wind kicked up while we were spraying, and at 200 feet we didn't realize it,(well maybe we realized it, but wewere rushing to get a job done, cause we'd gotten rained out alot and were running behind)but we accidentally got overspray all over my bosses truck and afew of thecars in the neighborhood, so I spent the next couple of days detailing everyone vehicles, but theyweren't mad about it after they got thier cars back all spiffy and waxed up. So it pays off sometimes.

LMAO, that's ****ing hilarious. Just cleaning a minivan in general sucks (props to the vans, they do it all for us). Thinking of be a detailer, I would imagine detailing only the coolest of rides, but in reality, I'm sure most of the vehicles are boring as ****ing vehicles, which sucks dick. But I will conquer waxing as well. Already handwash my vehicle now, so I save big bucks, and it gets the best washes of its life. Waxing would be great, I even have a nice tree on the street that I can put the truck under for shade.

If your parking under a tree, watch out for bird's *hit or bust out the paintball gun for them.
