Rear Differential...CASE CLOSED=)
Oh, really, you would? But I thought these dodge stock units were no good. I mean it was the reason I'm even dealing with this mess to begin with. So you think I should go with the dodge LSD instead of the open carrier??

Looks like your good to go.
Get a couple of cans of brake clean and go to town in there. It looks like the old oil was in there for quite a while.
Personally I would be all over the free Trac-Lok from Slomojo.
Good luck

I've heard of nothing but problems. I'd go with a open carrier before I went with one of those unless it was to just get by for a few weeks or months. If I don't want to tear into again in 2 months I wouldn't use a Trac Lok

Hey you have 1999 posts. You have more than me haha.

So consensus? Housing is good? I just a little stuck here. Rabbler is making me think twice now lol. I can ask slomojo for the lsd, and I can get open carrier. Open carrier guy is just waiting for an answer right now lol.
Just my opinion here but the one Slomojo has looks to be in VERY good condition. Even the bearings look good. and it's free! You don't get many deals like that!
True the factory Trac-lok isn't heavy duty like an Auburn is but I wouldn't call it a POS.
Your original lasted 7 years and you know that last owner didn't take very good care of the truck.
This one might last the life of your truck if you take care of it and it's free!
Mine is still very tight and over 10 years old!
I think you will miss the LSD operation in the winter if you downgrade to the open diff.
Even if this 'new' trac lock lets go you can still buy an Auburn later if you like. If this one lasts your ahead of the game and it was free!
Mama always told me "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"
Did I mention it was free?

I thinkyou joined a day after meneon (Im posting or i'd check), but.... yea you are quite the blabber mouth lol. Shoot i'd buy both. Buy the LSD, and the open. The LSD looks barely touched. Change your diff fluid often to keep an eye on the lsd. When the lsd does go, swap the open. Yes the open is a heck of a lot cheaper... but I just know your gonna be pissed next winter when it snows LOL.
Well, in that case, if you think it's a good move, I will do it. Both will cost me about the same because shipping from California is good, but Slomojo, would you send me that Trac-lok?? If you can, the soonest you could send it to me would be great, truck is just sitting in the garage waiting for a new unit. If you can do it, I'll give you my shipping information. And I can pay you by paypal if you have that.
