Yes the open is a heck of a lot cheaper
Cheaper than FREE?

Sorry, the open is way cheaper thanto buy a "new lsd", not the used 1. All the money ur saving by not going with a shop, ought 2 think of that auburn. But as rabbler said, the lsd is FREE lol. Very hard to argue with that.

Lol if I was going to do a LSD I'd pay the extra $300 and do it right and get a Auburn. I don't know that your peelouts and what not will save that. Look on PS. Most everyone with one has had the same problem with the clips breaking. If Rabbler is one of the lucky few that hasn't thats good for him but it seems like quite a few people have problems.
I have no clue why my truck doesnt have any of the persistant typical problems that most 2nd gens have. I havent had an issue with the rear or the trans, I have more miles that a decent number of people having those problems and I use my truck hard...

I didnt look at the pictures in detail, but if your housing is fine, go to randys ring and pinion and get the parts to rebuild it yourself. Cost me $150 to have tougher than stock parts put in my lsd. Takes a half hour to rebuild it, even for a first timer.

So what are the bolts for exactly? And are they a generic bolt I can get at a hardware store, or special order?
To hold the cover on the rear. Sometimes its hard to find grade 8 bolts cheep at hardware stores. Fortunately I have a tractor supply co. down the road that sells bolts by the lb. rather than per bolt.
Gotcha. There is actually a tractor supply company down the street from as well, so should work out well. But I don't know, I guess I'm in a little bind here. Rabbler is saying go with the LSD. And Hometheater is saying stay away from it. I mean, both have their advantages and disadvatnages. Open carrier can take more abuse, but the LSD is safer in the winter. I don't know.

Yeah, def. get yourself a set of jackstands, even if your buddy is bringing some over, you still need some for yourself!! So what does your bro do with his big ole' ford? Anyways, I have a set of pro lifts from the supermarket that were 20 bucks, and I have had them for about 5 years now. That was the first thing my father taught me when I was only about 3 or so. Whenever you jack up a car, use jack stands or blocks of wood, and always, always place a block under on of the tires and shake the car before you go under it.

idk why you would think of going with an open. Thats like dating pamila anderson (when she wasnt retarded looking) and then dating hasselhoff. It just doesnt make sense.

Youve been pissing and ****ting money thus far, why not continue? Remember what cutting corners (cost wise) netted you before? Not saying an open is WRONG, this is just my oppinion.

Tractor supply will be your best friend. Cant stay out of there for a day.

nice thing about a truck is you dont need to jack it up to do much. My jack has never seen so much non-use

Alright so ya think put slomojos lsd in? And build it up? That or stick with the trak-loc until I can afford a Detroit Truc Trac or Auburn? I didn't really want to go open, I was just concerned of destroying a nice lsd unit, but if the housing is ok, then I guess I can really do whatever at this point.

I don't know though....David Hasselhoff, guy is ****ing MINT. LOL, that song Looking For Freedom is a classic lmao.

I would. If you dont drive like an a$$hole and burnout every 5 feet, that trak-locshould last you probably longer than you own the truck.

lmao "drive like an *******". But yeah, I've learned my lesson with peeling out in 35" shoes, just doesnt work. I didn't even know anything about trucks when I had it. I didn't know the rear diff. had anything to do with the transmission and all the gears and ****, I was a giant retard. The more I learn about the different components and how they all work together (plus say a $4 g loan) I don't romp on that pedal. I just enjoy the truck and appreciate its looks and power. I defiantly did not help my case doing all that racing and peelouts, just didn't know better, but now I do.

To me it's no brainer... Free!

If Slomojo was selling a worn out trac-lok with blown clutches and chipped gears I would probably pass but he's giving it to you free. free, free, free

Somebody should buy him a 6 pack just for opening it up.

FREE!
