have posted this before with no results, so i will try again! have a 99 dodge 150, 5.2 magnum v-8, automatic, 2wd that has a serious problem. today i had to drag it home because it wouldnt start. wouldnt do anything but click. cleaned cables, but same. after i got it home, it started right up, but starter stayed engaged(could turn key off, and starter was still spinning with key off untill i unhooked battery cable) hooked cable back up, and turned key, and it started again. turn key off, and starter still spinning. changed relays, and same thing. has a new starter that has never given any problem till now. starter was replaced due to the same thing happening a year ago, now right back to the starting line. any ideas???

 

Replace the Ignition switch.

 

And make sure you don't have oil or something leaking onto the starter

Sounds like you have a sticky ignition switch, which actually fried the old starter too

 

sounds like a faulty relay

 

But he said he changed relays
