You guys would not believe this
I can't believe that I'm still dealing with this. That's right...you guessed it, the transmission. I just finished dropping it off again with them this morning to see if they can fix the problem. After months of dropping it off with them to get it right, they've managed to tweak it so it shifts smoothly into all gears. However, there has been one last problem, and they seem to be at a loss as much as I am. For the third time now I've dropped it with them to fix a problem I'm experiencing exclusively in overdrive. It seems to be "bump sensitive". If you go over bumps or bumpy roads, the trucks rpms will flare up. It's impossible to travel down the highway without it "skipping" around the entire time. If you let off the throttle before you hit the bump you can avoid it flaring up, but that is only a band-aid. Something is wrong, and they said they've never seen something like it before. They think it's something to do with the electrical harness. So I dropped it with them for the third time to try and figure this specific problem out. It's getting to the point where I can't afford to keep dropping my vehicle with them. I've been dropping my truck off with them since March 5th. Mind you I'm still paying monthly for this transmission while I still haven't an oppurtunity to enjoy it ONCE since I've owned it. What do you guys think I should do? Am I in a position where if they don't figure it out by this Friday, am I in a position to ask for a new unit? I've been patient, too patient, I can't keep dropping this truck off, especially for the money I paid.

by jumping do you mean 200~300 rpms? if so clean your tps or swap it. it is a known problem to cause the torque converter to lock & unlock. there is also a wiring issue inside the tranny IIRC that will cause the exact same problem. there is a link to it in the DIY thread at the top (again IIRC, I think I linked it up there).

had this problem on the 4.7 dakota I used to write that diy up, same problem, simple fix...
if your rpms are jumping the 2~300 rpms, call the shop asap and let them know it's most likely the TPS....

My truck did jump 2-300 rpms just randomly going down the interstate when the TPS was bad but it didn't have anything to do with when you hit a bump it was just random. I only noticed it in cruise control since when I was using my foot on the gas I couldn't hold it steady enough or be sure that I was.
BTW did you ever get that build sheet? lol
