Got around to working on it today. Pulled the pistons and crank. I'll have to get a hold of the machine shop and see when I can take it up to have him go over it. The casting has me a little worried however. On the inside of the engine the casting is very close to the #1 cylinder wall. Here's a few pics of todays progress ad what I'm talking about. You can also see where the piston to crank bearings have started wearing.

Sorry they are pics from my cell so not the usual high quality

Not sure what you mean by the casting too close to the cylinder wall. Looks like you have plenty of meat to work with in case you need an overbore. The rod bearings look very typical. It looks like normal "start up" wear that occurs before the oil pressure comes up.

Ok, I think I see what you're talking about now. I wouldn't worry about that. Even if you go .030 over, it won't get into that part of the casting. Plus, the only thing that passes by that area is the piston skirt anyway.

what rings are you going with? total seal rings? to lower the blow-by
any dry film on the bearnings?
any thermal coating on the piston/valves/ combustion chamber?
take a look at http://www.techlinecoatings.com/

i have about 6 to 9 months before i can rebuild my 318 in my '95 with 210,000 on it

Not sure what rings I'm going with yet. I'm gonna wait to see what the machine shop guy says I'll need. I'm not really sure what you mean about all that other stuff. My engine was clean everything was good besides the cracked head and the bad cam bearings. I decided to rebuild the whole thing just cause I was down that far. I'm not coating it with anything. i looked at that site and your not gaining that much HP by coating so I'l not worried about it. I'm not building a high hp engine so just a normal build will work

Haha no its in my storage shed. My dad bought that recliner from our old job and put it in my shed. I got enough furniture in that thing that whenever I buy a house I'll be set.
