I'm not so sure they'll be giving me a ****ty unit this time around. They know I mean business by hiring a lawyer. I would like a heavy duty unit, but I do not want to go through this all over again if I'm not satisfied with their work. They have already insinuated it's my "truck" that's the problem. The truck sits stock now, so I'm having a stock transmission put in. If something goes wrong, I will have stock specifications on my side. Most people just don't levy with trucks that have liftkits, big tires, and modified transmissions. They just view it as unknown variables, and everybody just points fingers at the least likely of the variables. I'm so done with the crap that I'm willing to drive a stock looking truck with a stock transmission just so I can move on. Learned lesson I guess.
Hey 01DodgeRam360. Bro my tranny just went and I had the dealership replace it with a heavy duty trans with a beefed up converter. Its good stuff, and so far no problems. Only put about 3 and a half k on it but still. What an amazing difference. Good stuff off the line too! heh
Hey Mohawk. Interesting. So the dealership does offered a beefed up version of the 46re? How did you go about requesting a beefy transmission with a heavy-duty torque converter? Also, what is your warranty?
3 year 100k. I got a beefed up version because its an offroad version to begin with and i said i wanted something that i can race decently with but pull a car. and i asked for a bigger converter. thats all

They know you can be pushed around, they did it before, and they'll try it again. You should fight for money back, or at the very least enough to pay another shop to put a stock unit in for you. With the amount of time they've spent on you (despite ripping you off), you think they are going to do quality work, even if they are doing something as simple as installing a stock unit?
No, they aren't going to give a crap about you, your truck, or the quality. They'll make it work for a bit, and if something happens, blame it on you racing the truck or something else along those lines, even if you weren't. Shady is shady, there usually aren't different degrees of it. If they robbed you like that once, they will try to stick you again.

You should fight them, not strike a deal with them that still has them coming out far ahead. My two cents.
It's just not that easy though guys. They did not want to give us our money back. But they accepted swapping their unit out. In order to pursue this case more, we would have to pay our lawyer more. My dad and I have already spent a good chunk of change to get where we are now. I have decided I don't want them trying to make me another heavy duty unit. I told them I want a stock unit put in, and I want the differential of money in return as well. The differential should pay the lawyer off, I'll have a new transmission, and I can move on. The 46re is not the greatest transmission, but I think many over react to how bad it is. Most of you guys have stock transmissions on this forum, and many of them exceed 150,000 miles stock....that is not bad at all. I will have a deep dish pan and heavy duty cooler. The 46re dies because it overheats, so that should help out a lot. I run stock tires now. I don't need a heavy duty unit. They will not be making a big buck on me. They will be freaking out if they have to give me money back. If they don't want to give us money back, then yes, we will sue them.
Man, I would just get the stocker and take care of it. If you don't treat it bad and get it serviced every 15K miles like the service manual says, it should be fine. Especially if you add a good heavy-duty aux cooler.
I have an update.
N.E Transmission has accepted our request to put a stock transmission in. They also will refunding us $250 in cash back. In addition, they will grant my current warranty towards the stock transmission. In final, I will have a 2 year + 4 month/60,000 mile warranty. The stock transmission will still have the deep dish pan and heavy duty auxiliary as well. The goal is to have it installed by the end of this week, but that part has not been finalized.
I agree with Ram2k1, this transmission will be just fine if it is serviced at the proper intervals. I'm an extremely persistent truck owner, so servicing this on time will never be an issue. It's also going to keep cool with the big pan and cooler. Not to mention the tires are stock now, so it won't have to work hard like it used to. Most importantly, I will finally be able to move on. So there is the update with what is going on. Not too bad of a conclusion for what could have been a dead end road.
