i would still like to know if i can mount a 285/75-16 on the stock 16x7 5 spoke rim. at least until i can get funds saved up for a set of gear alloy 711MB rims in the 16x8 size.

As long as the tire will mount to a 16x7...
Most of the tires on that website state 7-8" rim width.

my sisters truck has that size on stock rims (dueler revo tires) and it will rub the control arms a little in a full lock turn. when i had my 285 70 17 tires on the off road edition rims they didn't rub. the 75 is a little taller so it might. there is a square head bolt on the back of the knuckle that is a stop to keep it from turning too far so if they do rub then you could adjust that and it will stop.

Has anyone put a lot of miles on one of these tires yet? I was wondering how they wear and if anyone has had a blow out yet. Thinking about putting some of these on my dually and maybe my daughter's jeep.

the only reason i ask is because the website says for 7 1/2 to 9 inch wide rim, for now id like to get the tires, then get the rims at a later date in the 16x8 size which would fit perfectly with those tires.

hey guys, treadwright has a good warranty, 2 of my tires are worn after only like 15 thousand miles...and it would be covered...except that i got those 4 tires for free...they've been great tires so far.....i heard the warranty swap is nothing and they send you free ones without hesitation...but who knows...i do have to say though, regardless i liked the tires a real lot...and im buying 2 in the very near future to put on my duelly for the front.

I put over 40k miles on a set on a Jeep Liberty with no issues They had more life left in them but I sold the Liberty so I don't know how much more I would have gotten out of them.

A new tire can do just as much damage if it comes apart. And new tires wil come apart. People really need to get over their recap hangups. These aren't the recaps of old.

Look further back in this thread for my long winded post about these tires.

wow! i accidently submitted an order, though i didnt enter any payment info, and before they even read my email, they called me asking me about my order, and i explained to her what happend, and she said no problem, and took care of it for me. and i also asked about the warrenty, and she said that pretty much all you have to do is send a pic to them, and they'll look at it, and decide whether worksmanship caused it or not. once i get the money, you can bet your hard earend dollar im gonna buy me a set of 285/75-16 MTGs. Ive never had a better interaction with a customer service rep, not even at walmart.

fyi, walmart won't mount them for you 004x41500. my sister tried to get hers mounted at walmart and they didn't tell her that they couldn't until they pulled the truck in the bay. apparently they are not supposed to mount anything but the stock size.
i called them yesterday to see if the mount and balance was still 5$ a tire like it was a couple years ago and they said its 10 now but i can't go there because they aren't allowed to mount used tires either. i have 6 used tires under the house and i was gonna use either the 2 that match the ones i have on there now for a while or put my bfgs back on (about 5k left in them). but since treadwright can get the tires to me in less than 3 days i'm just gonna drive the camaro until they get here. looks like i'll have to drive my dads truck this weekend to go fishing.

That is good customer service, but keep in mind they are a very small mom and pop company. If you have a real issue, you will be out of luck.

Personally I wouldn't take a chance with used tires. There is way to much risk involved and it isn't worth saving a few dollars.
