Trans Check Valve Delete
THX bro I'll do just that. Trans temp has been running around 170 F from scanner, but I'll still get rid of the valve,, for safe keeping's.
Ya the ck valve was' if not plugged,,darn close. Could just barely force air through it. Drilled out the rubber like ball and spring joke in a vice, it worked well. Can't believe I never knew of that hideous valve.
I don't notice any waiting in mornings even if I test slam it into drive and see if it will go.
Now the PCM is next, I've been through so many of them that were not tested and just assumed good, sold to me as rebuilt.
I know they can't rebuild them for 200.00 bucks, but this ripping a giant hole in the back of the housing with a hole saw, and soldering a loose circuit, then silicone the piece back,, is hardly worth what they charge. I have never gotten a good one the first time. For some reason the 5.9ltr raises the cost some as well.
Any ideas where to get one,> someone might holler at me. I'm running around with number 2 prong on trans relay grounded, to get 123, but no 4 or lock. I thought I was suppose to get 4 and lock with pink from PCM grounded,"same as no 2 on relay", but no go. I'm not sure what's up, I might need another life. PCM first.
I have to keep this truck, because it would "kill" most anyone else by suicide! From new to 230.000mi it was frighteningly perfect, then one day it just started to explode. I think I'm caught up for a while if I can solve this trans issue. PDC and all wiring is beautiful all around, cas it was always in a dry climate..

Trans relay only supplies power to the trans. The PCM controls the ground side of the circuit.
One of our sponsors here does PCMs..... They have ads in various places, and also should show up in the vendors list. Give 'em a shot....

Didn't even know we had a vendors list, hope I can find it, and yes I'll buy from them If I locate them.

Then all of a sudden the ground goes away and I have a third gear start, able to get second only by slamming it into 1st, then manually shift up two notches to drive to get third but no overdrive when it spazzes like that. I cleaned contacts til I can't anymore by the PCM, and what bothers me a touch is wiggling the plugs to the pcm don't give me any change like a bad pcm usually does. I've driven these things since they came out and kind of gotten use to how they respond. I only hope it's the pcm, and I'm having problems finding a scan tool that works well on these 99s. It's like nobody knows anything about what will give data from the trans and engine. It seems to be a bit more forgiving after 2000 as to what will scan. I had a $400.00 Launch Pro that did no more then a 40.00 code reader would do for mine so I returned it. The new 5160 Innova wouldn't offer any live data at all on this 99. Just sent that one back today, dammit at my shipping expense. I like the stand alone scanners not to mess with blue tooth unless I'm forced to do so. It seems that way so far, unless I spend $3000.00.. I never mean to go on so long, this rango as you call them, needs to live with you, lol.. It's all I have now, and I'm suppose to know what I'm doing, these have great hood springs !

The ground comes and goes from the pcm, and it's not always related to heat, which seems weird to me. I ran a test light inside and drove around to see what was going on. When it grounds I can remove my jumper ground wire and it will shift, and at times I'll even get 4 and lockup as it should. At that point of coarse it activates the relay.

A failing transistor is all it takes, or a bad solder joint, etc. If the wiring itself seems to work properly, then the PCM becomes suspect. Unfortunately, the only way to test that theory, is to replace it, and see what happens.
Yep. Sure can.
PCM has a lotta different failure modes, and not all of them present themselves as such.......
