Default New tools new things to do

So for Christmas i got some basic craftsman tools and a 2 1/4 ton jack and some money. I've been planing on doing my exhaust for some time now but instead of buying a whole system (was planning on putting the Gibson system on it) im going to just slap a flowmaster muffler on it. Which one should i go with (no duel outlets) and what should i cut my old one off with? sawzall? Ive never messed exhaust systems so this will be a first time thing. Also.. i want higher low end power. Not sure what size pipes i have on it now but ill look and post it later. Smaller pipes = higher low end and vice versa for the bigger pipes right?

Comments, ideas, etc thanks

Well it depends on the sound you want. I personally heavily favor the Super44, but for some that is just to loud. So I would recommend the Flowmaster 40, its a great sound but not crazy loud. I cut my old exhaust off with a sawzall, gets the job done. As for size of pipe I run 2 1/2 on mine. Hope that helps ya

Ok, first off, IMO you need four stands or find a freind that has a hydraulic lifet. You can cut the muffler off with a sawzall, but I recomend a pipe cutter. I dont know the actual name of of it, but it looks like a bicycle chain with cutting wheels attached. For the muffler everyone here seems to like flomaster 40's series. Personally, I wouldnt go with anything lower than a 40. Anything lower will start to make you truck sound obnoxious.

Flowmaster Super 44

There are a lot of sound clips on YouTube
Just type in Dodge Ram Flowmaster Super 44.

P.S: Take the clamps off. Then hammer away to get it off. That was the way I did it.

Smaller pipe is not necessarily good. The 5.9L or 5.2L usually end up working best with a 3"-ish single or 2.25/2.5"-ish dual out pipes. Any larger than that on a stock or even half-stock engine and the exhaust gasses cool in the pipe(s) to fast, causing the engine to have to push colder (and therefore denser, heavier) gasses out of the pipes, which is not good for power. You have to try to strike a balance between keeping the exhaust hot while also keeping it as free-flowing as possible.

Uh no.... Super 40 louder than 44. the higher you go the deeper it gets. the lower the louder...

Go with 44's deep shakening noise

you do realize that there is absolutely NO difference in sound between the Delta 40, 40 series's, and the super 44 right?
