V10 vs. Cummins
I live in Sw Fla, way down on the gulf side close to the everglades. I was retired for a few years at 32 years of age durin the "boom" years thanks to some good real estate investments, but am back in the real world doin a job I love. I work at a salvage yard sellin used car/truck parts all day long, sorta like the stock exchange with car parts. buy em low from other yards and sell em high to the customer at a profit. lets me gather all my goodies for my own projects and help my fellow gear heads out from time to time on theirs.

I take it you never drove a Gm 5.7/6.2 non turbo diesel, Ford 6.9 non turbo diesel or that Dodge non turbo diesel they had for a few years in the 80's? Mergin on the hwy was more of a prayer then a actuality lol Like I have said, the turbo is the ONLY thing that has saved diesel engines in regular consumer trucks. truth be known, most are not even used to a 1/4 of their potential and are bought more for status then need. You hang a turbo on a properly built gas engine and it makes insane amounts of power, look at what they get out of those jap 4 poppers and buick v6's. Theres plenty of street driven twin turbo v10's on youtube makin well over 1000-2000 hp, go check em out.
...You were the one who started this.....
I know there have been guys who have swapped cummins motors into 1/2 tons to take t othe drag strip, got any good links?
if i could find them you would already know,
and i love the white stuff, -20 is a beautiful temperature, and then again +15 is the perfect temperature, sitting beer in one hand, beer in the other just perfect

How did I start this? lol because I threw some good points out in defense of the v10? It's a big but VERY mild motor that was never offered near it's full potential from the factory. Imagine if they had continued on with it, actually offered it with 450-500 hp like it should have had AND with a multi displacement feature like the hemis. Imagine if they had offered a all aluminum magnum style V10, more power and lighter weight. It was a great engine for it's day and was better on fuel and a lot more powerful then the 454 Chevy and 460 Fords of the time, which is what Dodge wanted to do. The cummins engines hadn't quite caught on yet and didn't have near the after market support they do now or the higher power levels they offer now.
