V10 vs. Cummins
Gotta feed them horses
Generally when it comes to back to back pull offs the winners not determined by most hp/trq, winner is who has higher mount location. The higher the truck sits compared to its competitor the better chance it will lift the other trucks back end breaking traction
Mount the chain as high as you can and keep everyone a good distance away, busting the chain, recoil could kill someone including yourself or your competitor.

I generally get 11mpg regardless of loaded empty. Best mpg I have got is 12.2mpg when towing my Indy to the track (varies 5400-5700lbs on hitch).
Stock tire size (huge gap in wells/camper/tow sits higher) & 3.55grs in mine.
As far as accellerating when towing goes. Years ago with my Indy on the trailer got diverted off the highway onto a new 7lane 45mph zone road. Traffic kept missing the lights (timed) and myself and a guy in a 325i beemer worked our way to the front.
Both got on it off the get go and I pulled ahead of him. 50mph his front bumper was at my mirrors & he just started to slowly inch on me as light changed. I gave it more next time and he was really reving and squawked leaving the line. Same outcome again. I was laughing very loud with window open cause I was shocked he couldnt pull ahead of my approx 13000lb gross wt. Final time I knew I wouldnt catch the light but thought Id continue to embarrass the beemer. Seemed he didnt want that happening again and he was bouncing off the rev limiter when he side stepped the clutch leaving before the green. I left a bit early and still had him. Let him go at 45, switched 3lanes and made a right. think he was trying to get ahead to make a right, not catch the timed lights. I never went WOT in 1st for fear of loosing the Indy but did go WOT once solidly in 2nd lmao.

Dont worry Cameltoe, Im probably a bit older than you
LMAO, been online longer than one member posting in this thread has been alive!
As far as trailer wt ratings go
CTD in the 90s had lower trailer rating than the V10 in all configurations except for the 4x2 5spd. It had 1200lb advantage there. Dually CTD 4x4 only had 9200lb trailer rating compared to the V10 at 12500lbs (both 5spd) Auto V10s had between 1300 & 2000lb higher rating.
Moparchat/DTO banned member (arrogant SOB) back in 99 or 00 by the name of MrBBQ ran a 97 V10 11.9s in the 1/4m. He had tb, intake, mid level cam and heads with 10psi intercooled boost.
Another guy I cant remember the name of ran 10s with his V10 40 over and similar mods to BBQ. (can remember ets but names forget it)
In 00 at the track I race at (TMP/Cayuga back then) one team started using a V10 from a 99 Dodge Ram in their pro comp car. Mild V10, 60 over made about 660hp (crank) & ran mid 8s na. It was very consistant over the years cause they didnt have to rebuild it anywhere near as often as a V8. Motor was no where near its potential from what they told me. With boost & stroke could of easily been over 1000hp but wouldnt make it easier to run mid 8s.
Burnout sounded really odd with the 502ci V10, not sure but I may have video of it somewhere.

VERY cool info, thanks RM. Would love to hear more about that BBQ guys truck if you have any links to the specifics? I knew there had to be a few people out there messin with the magnum V10's on a more serious level the ni planned on doin.
The posts got a lot more positive pretty quickly!!! I am now considering putting a turbo on my v10 for absolutely no reason. It's funny how what you have is never enough. I like the points about the engines have their specific functions and they are both good at what they do. If you can't tell I'm 19 and this truck is my first car. Before I moved to Atlanta I was driving a 65 VW beetle in Ireland and it would top out at 85mph. Then I got this truck and learned about burning out and going 120mph. I am very attached to it and probably would love a diesel or another truck as my first as long as it wasn't a ford. As far as I am concerned all dodges are good and I love my V10! I am still going to pull against the cummins and hopefully win but I won't brag if I do and if I lose I won't say anything..lol
WOW!!!!
I had to work last night in the field on my bosses D6R ( That’s CAT dodgeman22 ), turbo blew , would you believe it, on a Diesel!!!!
In response to being quiet , I’m not, just busy sometimes.
Some guys on here are real sensitive, sorry if I hurt anyones feelings, (especially dodgeman22, one day you’ll get over it, its just that I can bite when I get insulted for no reason)
This forum is great , I’ve silently used it for help with my truck in the past, but I hope to contribute more in the future, unless I get banned first.
Im done stirring the s###, What else can we talk about.

Good luck against the CTD may the best Dodge win

Last night I did do a google search as well as ones on mpchat & dto but found nothing about him. Think both sites besides banning him, deleted all his posts as well. He really caused a lot of crap. MPchat was the big Dodge truck site online back then and he killed it. (dto later, same thing)
Most that have made V10s fast had to do a lot of custom fabrication to do it cause as mentioned, aftermarket support is non existant. Most that could afford to go crazy dropped them for the CTDs cause it was a lot less hassel, less r&d of custom parts and less time to get same or better power.
Hats off to you if you do make a go of it
I just got an 06 CTD after looking and driving a ton of different stuff. The beauty of the diesel is exactly what was listed on the front page. The aftermarket is huge. Mine is 325HP~610lb/ft with the 6 speed manual and is totally stock, and it's already grunty as hell. The other advantage is the durability. the older 12V CTD's are known to go 500,000+ without needing internal engine work, and the 24V's are stacking up to be almost as dependable.
Here's a turbo for you guys. The numbers are actually a little off, its actually something like 5,069shp!!! Wanna talk about who has the most power now?j/k

I think I might need STEEL tires though to get that power to the ground!
Funny you mentioned that, cause of this thread, I was thinking about using some of the thicker steel or alum I have kicking around for brackets to temporarily mount my D-1SC (without the intercooler) onto the V10 for some giggles. Like I need more distractions lol.

okay, there is no way in hell that your v10 gasser is even comparable to my 24v cummins, i will drag your truck backwards anyday, and go farther than you, and tow alot more. And when you said that it put out more hp than the cummins, at what rpms, 4500?, youll be screaming up the hill pulling boat or whatever, and ill be put-putting up the hill at 1200 rpms pulling my bulldozer, so you cant even compare the v10 to a cummins. Its not even close.
Dang man this thread just started to cool down. Why the hell did you have to go and stir the bucket of chit again?
IMO Stock for stock, the v10 will always beat a diesel off of the line, but when the turbo on the CTD spools up you can kiss your ten cylinders of 30% burning efficiency good bye.
I have driven the v10 and I own a CTD, I would take the diesel any day. Yes the v10 feels punchy but it just cant perform as well as a CTD. It really makes me wonder for those people out there that think that a CTD Dodge is gut less; is whats wrong with the motor in those trucks?
just my 02 take it or leave it. this thread went from which is better to who has the biggest pecker
