Purolator is supposedly on par with Wix, K&N, and Mobil 1. I had almost forgotten about those!

AMSOIL 10w-30, with an AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency filter, only way to go man, good for 8,000 Miles, or they have oil that extends service life to 1 year, 25,000 Miles.

GOOD ****!!! I run their racing oil in my 700hp late model and doubled my oil change life from Mobil 1 (SUCKS)
I think someone is just advertising for AMSOIL. Its a great oil, but if you ran Mobil 1 synthetic and think it sucks, you're a dingbat. I noticed no difference between Royal Purple and Mobil 1 (other than color). I like them both, and while I have not tried AMSOIL, I am very interested to try it when my current box of RP runs out.

yea I'm advertising???? I want you to go to amsoil and buy oil so I make nothing off of it??? I said that because AMSOIL lasts alot longer, therefore its cheaper to use and Mobil 1 is expensive and its junk after 4k-5k miles, and AMSOIL is good for 8k.........you do that math before you go calling me names.

dino can last that long IF the motor is in good standards..
and if you are using amsoil or any oil and so sure on it , do an oil analysis ...
Its not the math as much as what the analysis says...

The oil is also only as good as the filter you're using. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic and change it every 6,000. My engine runs like a raped ape and idles as smooth as a Swiss watch.

The advertising bit was a joke. The dingbat part was not. Your math means nothing.

PA put it nicely about the math.

I've used Mobil 1 for over 6000 miles once in my wife's Jeep, usually and it looked dirty, but not that bad at all (95% in town, BTW). I run their synthetic oil, which I'm assuming is what you were talking about as well. Ran it many, many times in my truck for 5800-6000 and my wife's for the same. Never has gotten as dirty as my ol' dino oil used to. Mobil 1 oil has been tested by oil analysis before, but I haven't seen a head to head comparison with AMSOIL, or even an analysis.

Not saying its a bad oil, but to claim its the best ever and the stuff that a lot of us use is crap, you'd better be able to back up your s***.

Dude you are a dingbat. Didnt you know that Amsoil makes an oil that lasts 25,000 miles? The Amsoil synthetic XL (assuming thats what you use; Its the one advertised at 7,500 miles) is basically Royal Purple or Mobil 1. The Amsoil HP 100% synthetic is the one that lasts 25,000 miles.

I would like to point out that oil is supposed to get black, If it isn't getting black, that means that it isn't doing its job, and its leaving deposits in your engine. You can tell nothing by looking at oil...

Most of the reason we do oil changes is to change the filter. If one were so inclined, you could simply change your filter and add a bit of oil every other change. most oil doesn't become saturated until way more than 3000 miles. The oil does have a certain amount of junk it can hold before it becomes saturated and less protective.

we change our oil so that it can start the saturation process all over again, not so much because the oil is "breaking down"

Technically, oil does not break down. It just becomes contaminated. We did an expierment in a Ag mechanics class to prove this. end result just be having the molecular composition checked both before and after 4,000 miles. There was no change in the chemical composition between the two. If oil did break down after being ran the bonding would have changed.
I thought it was kinda interesting when we did, but if you think about it, it kinda makes sense.
