Whatever suites your preferences. Your gonna get all kinds of responses with suggestions on this one. Stick to the name brands and you will be fine. None of this Kenwoo or Palk audio stuff that i see around. Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer, Polk, Infinity, etc all make good quality speakers. Me personally, I'm running 2 way Infinity reference series speakers (i believe, its been awhile since i put them in) throughout and a Kenwood head.

I'm using Polk MOMO DB 650's. They have a marine rating due to the kevlar woofer.

They really sound good, I've had them for a couple of years and two vehicles.

Well getting different responses is right. I ran kenwood in mine for awhile, and I wasn't very happy with them. I switched to Infinity Kappa Perfects all the way around, and so far I am impressed. I don't think you can get the kappa perfect speakers in 6X9 anymore, but the refrence series are pretty much the same. The only difference is the watt rating.

Get the stores to give you a 6.5 inch conversion kit for the front speakers, a round speaker will give out better sound because the oval speakers get all wonked out after you reach a certain level, something about the loss of balance, I have boston acoustic sl60's in my truck on the front, and Ill tell you what, I dont hear many sound systems that have speakers as clear as those, although they are a little pricey... A lot more than infinity, kenwood, sony, pioneer, or any of the normal on the shelf brands, I would say if you want premium sound, stick to brands like diamond audio, boston acoustic, focal, mb quart, and there are a few others out there that are pretty nice, but I think those are really the premier speakers, if you want to look at something that is quite comparible but not quite as expensive look into phoenix gold also, I stick to phoenix gold for most of my wiring, I personally think that its even better than monster cable, but there are many opinions on this and I respect all opinions, if you can afford it, I suggest getting a good set of speakers and amping them, its really the best way to go, I have a 1000 watts running to my 2 sets of speakers, boston fronts and diamond rears and I have a 12 inch rockford fosgate sub that cant keep up with them, and its running 400 watts rms off an alpine amp, and rockford and alpine are both reputable companies. Just giving my .02 cents, thats if you really want to pump some money into your sound, oh, and if you can, try and get components, not full range speakers, the mid range on components is much clearer.

FYI you can make a "conversion kit" out of 1/4 inch MDF for nothing...

paint it so its more moisture resistant!
