If you are real light on the gas, O/D will kick in right around 40.

Just because it will hold it at that speed does not mean your transmission isn't starting to melt. And we aren't talking 40 miles per hour here, we're talking almost double that.

LOL if you are just babying the throttle it will kick into od at that speed.
I just know I dont have the money to rebuild that tranny AGAIN, so I take all the precautions that I can.

OD off period! Not to mention it's kind of ridiculous to drive that speed while towing anything.

Just want to throw it out there to get things stir'd up. With overdrive off, your torque converter still locks

Edit - - I also agree with zman

i know the converter locks with out OD, i tow with the OD out when i pull over 3500 lbs, which isn't very often i pull much weight at anything over 55 [mostly farm chit]

yea i have no clue why it does it, but as soon as i start to get on it, it kicks out, but i dont let it run like that usually when im loaded, i was going down a hill
