get rid of the spacer,,paper weights are what those are good for...before you get into the cam..being a 96..how many miles are on the motor?trans etc?..few things right off the bat,,is these things love to breath,,so i suggest a better throttlebody,,f&b makes an awesum product..fastman does too..either 1.6 or 1.7 roller rockers,,but when doing this you need to think thoroughly what your build is going to consist of down the road...if your going to rebuild etc,,and install a high lift cam,,1.7's will make the lift of the cam higher than 1.6...pick you up a good used m1 intake.nice set of hedders,,not those garbage ones you find on ebay for cheap..and so on..

Find a good used programmer. Being a 97 I would bet money that you have the death flash.
Getting a programmer will eliminate that flash on your PCM.

The Death Flash was Dodge's way of fixing a bad pinging problem that a lot of Rams were experiencing. Rather than find the real problem, they just programmed the PCM to pull the timing way back. You won't see the words "Death Flash" stamped anywhere ... I forget what Dodge's official name for it was ... someone here will chime in, I'm sure.
