One of these days I'm going to do it myself, if for no other reason then to measure the cfm the fans are moving. I work in a specialty industry where I spend part of my everyday measuring cfm, and always suspected the aftermarket auto industry is misleading about what's required.
So can I just unscrew the stock fan from the wheel, leave the wheel and belt the way they are, and install the electric fans right there? Or am I missing something?
also, do I have a t-stat? pics are gone on the DIY t-stat thread and am having trouble wrapping my mind around it.
Is there a disadvantage to just having the fans on a switch?
Traditionally, when you are talking about t-stat, you are usually meaning the coolant t-stat. Not sure if you meant that or a fan t-stat.
Nothing wrong with using a fan t-stat or a switch. One's automatic, one's manual. If its manual (switch), you have to make sure you pay attention to engine temp.
