It may be helpful to us, but still not necessary. And whats the problem with the fuel gauge being there? You don't like seeing it go up and down faster than a tach ?

Because you have a base model. Not all Rams came from the factory with a tach, including some 5-speed Rams. My dad used to have 2 S-10s and a Taco, all 3 with a 5-speed, and they didnt have tachs. His current S-10 with an automatic has no tach.

No tach saves money. Should'a bought a Ram with one.

wow seems there are alot of young people on this forum. Im 19 and have had 2 ram 1500s as daily drivers.

Ive gone through 3 trannys lots of oil and gas

Although i will never get my money back out of the truck i continue to spend money on it. Since i got it ive installed

1. 20 inch rims
2. 35 inch tires
3. K&N Fipk air intake (dumb)
4. Chrome rocker panels
5. Chrome wheel well trim
6. optima battery
7. weatherguard toolbox
8. 5 inch suspension lift
9. New Transmission
10. anything i forgot

Ordering soon

1. Add a leaf
2. coil spacers
3. body lift
4. 38 inch tires or more
5. winch bumpers front and rear
6. new gears front and rear with rear limited slip or 2.5 ton rockwells, if i can find some
7. possible newer and stronger driveshaft from tom woods custom driveshafts
Wanting to do someday soon

9. New motor someday
10. Wanting to sandblast and fixing and holes or dents
11. Repaint everything
12. Take body off and fix and strenghten frame and repaint frame

Its a project truck that is currently a daily driver. i wanted to get a new truck a few months ago but never did due to i want to buy a house soon. But the tranny going out isnt helping, and the lift and tires are not but that was extra money i had unlike the tranny. Saving money while having fun...

Ask any C.P.A. or anyone who does taxes for a living.
y'all live on a farm??
and i was able to write my truck off on the taxes b/c its a farm vehicle,
i live on a 2500 acre corn and soybean farm, doing what i do with out a reliable ol' truck would be impossible...END O STORY

First off, ever tried to take a honda civic in a worked field? Or how bout look at the prices you are going to pay a semi to come out to your place to haul cattle to the sale barn? And thats if you have a big enough operation to sell 60 head or more at a time. Ever seen someone put a $5000 bale bed on a beat up truck thats not worth $500? Gotta feed cattle somehow and round bales dont fit too well in the trunk.
my point exactly
i usually use a trailer to haul round bales into the horse pasture, shove them off the old fashion way, brute farm boy strength
its funny to see 8 horses following a full size pickup with 3 round bales on a double axle trailer
the horses are what my family does for fun, trail riding [leaving in a few days for a week, the dodge is staying home, no gooseneck hitch]

All I was trying to say was that someone who works on there truck at the age of 14 and puts $1000 plus in to the truck is not an investment. That's a hobby. Totally different. Yeah Trucks can help make money for you (I own a Landscaping company) but when you start adding cams high performance exhaust and what not, then you start losing money. Those upgrades, as fun as they may be, don't help out any. As a business owner, you need to maintain your truck and keep it running an optimal performance. Not waste it on irrelevant things. I was just commenting on Purpl's use of the word "investment" when he used it to describe how much he spent on his truck.
