I have a 5spd base model with no tach....personally i think tacks are for wussies....if you can hear your exhaust you dont need a tach to drive a standard.....mine has a dummy light to tell you when to shift....but thats a joke....i would never shift when it tells me too...

There is an after factory tach that the guy before me installed on the truck....its mounted on the dash above the headlight switch...doesnt look to bad there....gives more of an old school muscle car appearance to it and it works good....so no complaints.....

Whatever you think is reasonable + cost of aluminum and shipping.

Mess with it ... drive it ... mess with it ... drive it ... repeat until you like it.

That's how we used to adjust timing ... advance it a little then floor it up a long, steep hill ... repeat until you ping, then back it off a bit.

Only problem with that is you could be constantly over revving the truck or never allow it to
peak.

Actually the TV cable is a pressure thing , to properly adjust it requires a trans pressure gauge. Adjusting it as the FSM says with measurements , gets you to a factory starting point (for the cable itself), it's all feel after that. Your shift points will change depending on how much you got your foot in it. Either way you go about it, those adjustments are for normal driving of a Ram. Anything more than that , it's time to listen to your motor.
