No Oil Pressure

I've heard that you basically have two different options to remove the oil pan.
1) Jack up the engine a slight bit and unbolt the pan. Then remove the pan
2) Remove the starter and trans inspection cover. Unbolt the pan and remove
Basically from what I have read the Haynes says to lift the engine to get clearance for the oil pan over top of the transmission inspection cover.
