Why not fill it with some, even 10 seconds of running with NO oil in it is bad bad bad on an engine. Its not like it costs extra or is hard to do..

One thing Chevy does right .. Their oil filters are just strait up and down, not tilted like Dodge and Ford.
Oh well..
...And on the Chevies that have have the oil filter tilted sideways, they have a plastic piece that surrounds the filter and lets the oil drain next to the drain plug! That engineer was thinkin with his dipstick!!! My S-10 is the 2nd easiest oil change ever!

the Oliver 1850 diesel we just bought (very used...) all the filters for engine, 2 speed aux trans, trans/final drive, and hydro filters are either upside down or sideways, talk about a mess during a full fluid change...which i HAD to do after dad bought it...

Are you just changing your oil twice a year to keep the oil fresh or is someone else putting miles on your truck?

Also someone posted earlier about the manual stating to change oil every 5k, but my manual says 7.5k >.<

Alot of imports do that too.. I know Toyota Camrys have them upside down..

I dont know why I put that funnel in the pic, but I didnt use it. In fact, I dont think I have used that thing twice! Heres the pic to prove it:

YOu dont need additives to make your motor run great. Just use a good oil, run some good filters and have a reasonable OCI.

Would the 3.9L on the v6 ram be 4 quarts? 2000 model (I dont have an owner's manual, remember)

4.5 Quarts. If you use the big filter, just go with 5.

Thats what I do sometimes, but didnt include it. I have monster ChannelLocks.
