It works on all of our trucks. It worked on my 95 (OBD1) as well as my 01 (OBD2).

Start with the key off, then on but dont start. repeat 3x, and it will flash your codes on your odometer.

If OBDI, it will flash X number of times, then briefly pause, and repeat. when finished it will flash 5x.

If OBD2, it simply states the codes one at a time, ex. P1234

Try doing the "key dance" a little faster or slower. Make sure you go all the way to full on and off, and leave it in the on position.

Its been a really long time, but I think I recall a thread stating that some 98's did not have this feature, and I believe they narrowed it down via the VIN to those built at a specific plant. I can't recall all the details, been a long time.

Key dance stopped working on the 98 models I do believe, regardless of where they were built. I think it came back later though?

Key dance doesn't work on 98 and newer trucks. Pushing the trip reset while turning the ignition on does a cluster test, and will give cluster codes, not powertrain codes.
