Water pump pulley puller needed?
#5
Mine neither I found out gotta get some big channel locks off a buddy I guess.
Two type eight bolts short enough to fit and narrow enough to fit in the holes of the pulley wreaked one new strap wrench broken. Who designs a wrench made of plastic oh thats right craftsman guess its a good thing there is a life time warranty on crappy engineering. No that's not fair they were cheap to buy so guess you get what you pay for.
back to try and figure this thing out.

First of all like they said, they new pump will bring a pulley on it. Secondly what you need to do is if you are trying to remove the fan clutch, put a socket wrench on the belt tensioner and tighten up the belt at the same time that you are turning the fan nut. That should create enough tension. Worked for me when I did mine. I didn't care if I damaged the belt (which I didn't) since I was going to replace it anyway. Hope that's what you needed.

a few suggestions.
put a big adjustable wrench on the fan. push down on the belt to create as much tension as possible on the wp pulley. hit the wrench with a hammer. this didn't work for me.
use a strap wrench around the wp pulley, and hit the big wrench with the hammer, same as above.
make a tool using a piece of flat bar. add 2 bolts or studs that will stick into the holes in the front of the wp pulley. you can drill/bolt in or weld the studs into the flat bar.
unbolt wp with fan still attached. lift out pump, pulley, fan, and shroud all at once. i did this.
new wp will come with new pulley attached, so don't worry about destroying it. but don't destroy the fan...
