Default Lt. Looney

This is my first major project I'm going to be doing. My dad passed away and I got his truck. It's a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 w/5.9L V8. So in memory of him the project will be "Lt. Looney" In the coming days/months/years I will be working on it. I'm not gonna do anything crazy.

Projects, no specific order.
  • new paint.
  • new dash.
  • clean up rims, and wrap them in new rubber.
  • convert the emblems to the new style on the 2005 and up models.
  • exaust system.
  • rhino lined bed, frame, underbody.
  • euro style headlights and tailights. HID's in from and LED's in the back.
  • winch
  • nerf bars
  • new plugs/wires/cap/coil
  • upgrade chip

These are just a few of the things I'm gonna change. I'll be starting with a tune up and a new K&N air cleaner kit, E3 sparkplug/wire upgrade. Switch from regular oil to mobil 1 synthetic.

To see pics of the build go Lt. Looney

Any comments or advice welcome.

Will keep updated

you're missing a couple.
plenum gasket with aluminum belly pan. then upstream o2 sensor and high flow cat.
timing chain/water pump.
maybe hubs/u joints on the front axle.

Dang it I knew I forgot some. I definitely want to do the plenum gasket. The high flow cat is going with the exhaust. Timing chain/water pump for sure. And the hubs and u joints for sure. As for the aluminum belly pan, not to sure what that is. Enlighten me.

Aluminum belly pan lit (hughes sells them) solves the problem of the new plenum gasket failing because the steel pan expanded and contracted at a different rate than the rest of the manifold(cast aluminum) causing the seal to break and blow out the gasket...

I'm gonna do headers. I'm not looking to make this truck a racer. Just somethings to make it run a lot better and to keep it longer. Also to freshen it up a bit.

My goal is to make it look better and make it run better in the end. I thought about building up a 408, but nah I like the 360. I just want to help it breath easier in both direction and run nicer.
