Thanks man
You have a 46RH and you cannot use a 46RE.

Yes the 360 has the 46RH behind it but you will need to use a non weighted torque converter for behind the 318.

In those years, the only difference is the Torque converter. You would need one for the 318, or, one off of a 96 or newer truck with a v-8. I think.

Yep your correct. Any parts store or tranny shop will be able to get you the proper torque converter. Just give them your info, '95 ram 1500 with the 5.2L V8.

Are the tq's on the 95 318 and 360 both weighted?

The 360 Magnum (and LA but I won't go into that) is externally balanced. It has balance weight on the balancer and the flexplate/flywheel or torque converter depending on year. 95 and earlier had the weight on the torque converter and 96 and later had the weight on the flexplate with a neutral balance torque converter. The balance weight is a large block on the face of the torque converter. Smaller balance weights on the back of the converter are simply to neutral balance the converter itself.

The 318 Magnum is internally balanced so no weights to worry about.

alright so got the tranny dropped this afternoon and went to take the tc out of the bellhousing and bam, its stuck. it will move about 1 inch out, then it stops. tried wiggling and pulling to no avail. used a pry bar a bit on it with nada. the pry bar started to make the shaft bend...also, the tc doesn't turn with equal resistance all the way around. it gets tough to turn at some points. please help, because i am stumped.

EDIT: Alright so i've been toying with it some more, and its not the shaft thats bending, justs a lot of play in the tc it seems when I pull it out about an inch or so

Maybe drill a hole in the center of the hub and use a slide hammer.

If I do this, I will have to buy a new tc correct? I was thinking of using the holes that are already there from the flexplate. maybe it might work? I gotta go get some slide hammers first though. Also, I currently have a jack supporting the engine while the transmission is off. Do I need to leave it under there? It seems to flex and come down quite a bit when I lower it. I need the jack for another project, but it push comes to shove I can just wait.

If you are rebuilding the trans, you want to replace the t/c anyway..... You won't be able to pull it using the bolt holes, as you will be pulling at an angle. That'll make things worse, not better..... It just slips on there..... try two pry bars, one on each side, and see if you can't get 'er to pop loose that way.
