Lack of lubrication. Either on initial install, or subsequently while running. The trans doesn't charge the t/c in park.... and I wonder if that is not a product of idling in park for too long???

Question

Today we took the transmission out of my truck to replace the front pump seal. However we cannot get the torque converter off. Anyone have any tips? I don't believe its seized because it still moves. But I think something is going on with the splines. Thanks

You will have to cut the torque converter around the shaft to access the bolts for the pump. Then pull out the pump with the remainder of the converter on. The pump bushing is seized on the torque converter. You will have to rebuild the pump or buy a new one when you buy a new torque converter. At least that was my problem.
