New Magnaflow cat now CEL and truck dies
99 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 gas.
I just installed a complete new exhaust including a Magnaflow direct fit cat and dual exhaust kit from Summit racing. It started up and sounded great and ran perfect for about 5 miles. My check engine light came on, a couple miles later the engine started to bog down. It did not completely stall, just would not rev and I could not go up a hill. I pulled over and turned the truck off. I started it right back up and was fine for a few more miles. My 20 mile commute how consisted of driving 45 mph, when it acted up I putthe truck in nuetral and shut teh ignition off then back on. things were good for a few more miles... so on.
I got home, unplugged the batteries, 45 minutes later hooked the batteries back up. Same problem. Ran to Autozone, picked up a couple new O2 sensors figuring I may have damaged them removing from old exhaust. Still no luck. Any ideas? I need to go to the dealership and have my computer reprogrammed anyway, think this will help with my stalling issue?
I made no other changes, just replaced exhaust system. I thought for sure I had just damaged O2 sensors??? Mayeb my computer got so used to running with a hole in the pipe before the cat now that is it fixed it doesnt want to run right?? lol I know it sounds stupid but I am out of ideas. I thought 45 minutes of batteries unhooked would reset computer?

Well that brings up another question which may require a new thread. I bought this truck used. The computer was replaced by a previous owner but a computer from a different vehicle so I throw codes sayign vin does not match as well as some ABS codes but this is not an ABS truck as far as I know.... The dealership I just called said there they can not reporogram the vin # in the computer. I'm affraid I do not know enough about what can and can't be done to these computers but if they cannot reprogram a vin # how do they program it in the first place on a new one?

thats exactly why i posted what i did...regardless, i do believe a superchips should be able to cure the whole vin number problem, could be wrong though. and yes, these trucks DO have ABS. you can try to have them program it, they should be able to do it. just don't have them do anything else other than that.
