I replaced mine earlier this year, but I'm sure it had been blown for a while. Truck was 2xx,xxx miles when I got it. When I took off the intake there was oil draining out of it . But she's all better now.
ok, I guess I will continue with the stupid questions and ask what that means...
If you have a 5.2 or 5.9 v8 engine in your 2nd generation or early 3rd generation ram it is likely that the plenum gasket is blown because it is a design flaw. If you notice poor performance, poor gas mileage, burning oil, pinging (spark nock) under acceleration, blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe on startup, or oil pooling in the intake manifold, there is a very good chance the plenum gasket is blown. The only way to tell for sure whether or not it's blown is to do a vacuum test.
leahyhfarms, if I were you I'd fix the leak before the oil you're burning takes out your catalytic converter and o2 sensors.
I bought my truck with 110xxx miles and a blown plenum. I wonder what causes some to fail and others not. Driving habits? Climate? Maintenance? Tire pressure?

What it means is because you have a 318 or 360 Magnum engine, your plenum gasket is blown, or it will be blown. I say that because it is inevitable. There is no need to check down your throttle body, or do a vaccum test, one day it will be blown sooner than later.
