so are most of you running a switch to the fan to turn it on when it starts to heat up? or is their another less expensive way to run it?

I ran mine through a relay so it starts when the key is on.

you should just make it run all the time because what if your in a rush, it heats up and you forget to turn on the fan....so do like chadlow21 did

I've got my e-fan hanging inside the shroud. Mainly because the Taurus fan and shroud doesn't cover the entire radiator. If you turn it on its side, you'll get a little more or less 1/2 coverage. Just not good enough coverage for a single fan.

I'm only running the low side since it's winter and there is no point running the e-fan when I've got 60+mph 20 deg (or 7 deg) wind blowing through the radiator.

I've also got an adjustable thermostat from AZ turning the fan on and off. For $18 why bother with those that are $60? Besides, use a relay to control the fan and the controller only trips the relay.

The foam pad that comes with it is way to dam big to use under your hose, but I'm thinking about a thin bead of gasket sealant should do the trick. But for not I've got the temp probe attached to the rad just below the upper hose. Set the on temp and secured all the wiring.

When playing with the cooling capabilities I've let the engine temp hit 210, trip the fan and in less than 30 seconds the dash gauge is reading 170'ish.

I'm connected to a switched 12v right now, but I'm thinking of feeding the temp controller straight off the battery to get the "finish cooling" cycle after the key is turned off.

edit: I'm not sure if I gained any MPG's but one of the reasons for the e-fan conversion is shorter warm ups in the winter with out daming up the rad. When at 60-75mph the fan does not run, so I'm sure I do gain some mpg's. If your running your e-fan 100% of the time you might be better off leaving the stock mech fan since you'll prob see the same numbers, but now your putting extra strain on the alternator.

I might end up getting the thermostat from AZ. I don't want to put extra strain on anything right now.lol

the foam pad can be used, im usin mine, jus takes a little work to get it in right,
if your battery is any weak at all, i wouldnt suggest leaving switched 12v. mine is straight to the battery and theres been a few times it wouldnt want to start back. i have a new battery now with no problems tho
