I found out something interesting tonight. Before I left for town I went to install the 87 tune to see how this tank of gas would fare. To my surprise, the initial install didn't complete. so my first assessment of the tuner was incorrect. I know it completed this time because it was flashing something along the lines of "tune installed, remove tuner from vehicle"
So I installed the 91 tune again and now I see what lastrights was talking about. The truck feels more powerful over all, and it doesn't kick out of overdrive on every little incline.
But I did hear spark knock for the first time in my trucks life. I got 2 bottles of Gumout octane booster and poured them in the tank and it still pings, but it only does it when in over drive or if I floor it. So I guess I'll throw the 89 tune on there to see if the pinging stops until i use up that 87 octane in the tank.
I also got the "no CAN available" message, so I would like to see the results of Superchips email response.

Thats almost exatly what I was saying. I didnt see that much diffference between the stogk tune and the performance tune, Thats why I asked if it really made a ddifference in what octane gas you use betwenn the two upgrades. I've been running 93 octante for about 6 months and don't notice anything
