Default surging turns in 4wd

sharp turns in 4wd make the truck "surge." in 2wd it doesnt happen. as far as i can tell the 4wd otherwise works fine.... where do i start to diagnose this?

Mine is doing the same thing in 4x4. I'm assuming you're referring to the front driveshaft U-joints?

ya front u joints.... are you turning sharply on pavement? That'll bind up most any 4x4. When mine's in 4wd I try to turn less sharply, even make an extra point turn or whatever. I hate turning sharp in 4x4, just feels so wrong to me

but ya bad u joints would make it jump and jerk like that on any surface

I always make really wide turns in 4wd lol... I don't like the hop, and my axle u joints are both good.

to some degree - binding is normal in sharp turns.

to be honest... even in some dirt... or on a hard pack dirt road it will hop... how do you think i feel with 37's? i hop like crazy... i would say to take yoru truck out of 2wd, and it wont hop... get to where you need to go straight again... and put back in 4wd...

My front end always hopped with sharp turns in 4x4.
I would just give her a bit more gas to help the a$$ end swing around.
The less slippery the surface you're on the more the hop.

Its normal to hop while turning, just part of having a 4x4
