I personally think that purp has stumbled apon a great investment opertunity. if this one work's with out a fail i think i would pay you to make me one, and i'm not bias at all, i dont know company from company but if one does the same damn thing i would rather go for a lower price. The bigger companys wont give a **** cause they got a button of other products to sell.

That turned out pretty nice Purpl. I would use threadlocker blue on those bolts though. you need to apply heat to remove red loctite and cast aluminum doesn't agree with a whole lot of heat, so if that gasket were to fail again then you could very well be boned out of an entire intake.
The gasket you got is one of the styles that I passed up, I just didn't like the look of the carbon with the intermittent rubber lines in it compared to the metal with smooth rubber on each side. I hope it works for you but I just didn't like the look of it.
Whichever route you take with the loctite, make sure you clean out the threads on the plenum bolt holes with brake cleaner really good so the loctite will work as it is designed to.

Good job making your own, but personally I don't see $86 dollars as being such a rip off. You've seen first hand, that you have about $30 dollars into it, without paying for aluminum. How much was that aluminum sheeting if you had to buy it outright? I think around $35? So there you would have been up to $65 bucks and you still would have a solid chunk of aluminum and jig saw blades.
Regardless of what you say about free time, time IS worth money. For some people it's worth more than others. The grade 8 fasteners included in the Hughes kit would be another $5 bucks or so. We're up to $70 dollars and again we have a chunk of aluminum that needs cut out and drilled.
My point: $86 dollars isn't so outrageous. Aluminum stock isn't cheap (although as proven in this thread it CAN be had cheap if you know where to look.) Their manufacturing process is tried and true, not someone cutting it out with a jigsaw.

However if the need does arise, I think my time is worth an extra $20 bucks or so, not to mention I'm receiving a product that we all know will work without any problems.

I dont understand what you guys mean "If it works". Its the same thing as what Hughes and APS make, just not laser or CNC cut with a big, expensive machine, it was make in my garage. Dont you think the idea for this plate came from someone's garage? Then they approached Hughes or APS (Forget which one came out with it first) and said "I have a great idea".
