Default EGR Code 32

My truck has been throwing Code 32 which relates to the EGR and EGR Circuit. Anybody have any experience with this code and if so, what was the cure?

Ck the EGR valve, sometimes the harness or the valve melts because of heat.

I put a new EGR valve on mine and it cured it.I've heard you take it off and clean the valve and tube to fix it for a while.Does the CEL stay on all the time.Mine started out from, just every now and then, to, quite often, to on right after start up.You may be able to disconnect the neg. cable for a few minutes, and get it inspected.

Right now I'm at the "every now and then" point. I'm doing the plenum next week so I will clean the valve then to see if it helps. Now the question is, how do I go about cleaning out the EGR?

It's just a small valve and tube. If your taking the intake off, you'll see how to clean it up.Good luck Man.

back from the dead. Truck began to start throwing this code again today. Can an EGR malfunction lead to a crappy MPG? Truck hasn't been doing good on gas at all lately and am hoping this is somehow related to that.

Yep, if egr is malfunctioning, the computer will pull timing to compensate.

i have the same code, but its not my egr valve, but actually the EGR pipe (cut it out)

when you did the plenum you have to of taken that pipe off...maybe its not tight enough back to the manifold...

and i get 14 mpgs city without the EGR pipe, so i doubt thats the cause of poor mpgs...it will contribute, but wont be the leading cause
