If I ever get a good place to buy enough aluminum to make some plates, I would. And I need a drill press, and plenty of jigsaw blades!
that many of the people on here didn't disconnect the fuel rail and all that. I would assume i can lift the intake off and lay it upside down without having to do all of that. If someone has a straight forward way to do this without removing so much, please let me know. I would like to pull this in the garage tonight after work, start on it about 4:30 and bring my truck back to work with me tommorow.
What some people dont realize is you should take the intake manifold out and clean the inside out with some carb cleaner or degreaser. When I take mine out I'm gonna clean mine in a parts washer and paint it (Plum Crazy Purple)....
DO NOT REUSE THE BOLTS!!
I had a brand new set of bolts snap off on me I would never reuse the stock bolts.
Yeah you wanna clean all that **** out. That's gonna be a total pain in the *** just trying to lay it over. Honestly I don't see you doing it in one night

Don't re-use TTY bolts.
I don't think you want to twist the fuel line like that, popping it off the rail only takes a second and you can just wrap a rag around it to catch any fuel that comes out (then light it on fire for some brief warmth).
You ought to leave the fuel rail in the intake, it makes for a good handle and you don't have to replace the o-rings if you don't take the injectors out.
It is easier to take the fan and shroud off and stand in the engine bay since you have to take the accessory bracket off and all that scraping on the heads would get pretty uncomfortable leaning over the fender.

Seems high for bolts to me. So what I may do is go ahead and get everything off tonight and soak it in brake parts cleaner. Just hung up phone with napa they can have bolts in two days.
Call a dealer. Someone told me that they bought intake bolts at their dealer for $12.
I already have the complete gasket set. Fel pro. $77.00 for bolts and all. BOlts will be in thursday or friday. I figure what I will do is start tearing down everything friday afternoon after work. My brother in law and a biker buddy of mine are coming over. So surely the three of us can kick it out pretty quick. Depends on how much beer we consume in the process. People use to ask me how long it would take me to get from my house to st.louis, i'd usually just reply about a case of beer. hahahaha!
Did my Plenum with the hughes kit. Trust me, this is no time to pinch pennies. A buddy of mine has done his twice with the oem replacement. And now need another one. When I did mine there was ALOT of laying over the rad support and fenders. GREAT WORKOUT! LOL. But i don't look forward to having to do it again. But I also put in a new Rad, hoses, thermostat, Alt., Belt tensioner, Idler pulley, Injector o-rings, and painted almost everything I removed. To save some time and o-zone...YEAH RIGHT! I had the intake hot tanked and inspected at the local machine shop for $20, Good idea I might add. Let us know how everything goes...
