Seized axle nut
I used this combo.

If you can't read it, that's a can of CRC Knock'er Loose (gave it a shot in the morning and another that afternoon when I went to work on it) and a 3/4" breaker bar with a 3' piece of pipe on the end of it. I had just barely started to push down in it anticipating a lot of trouble out of it (like so many have had) and it broke loose.
There's a reason I say that PB Blaster blows, and calgaryman is just helping my case against the stuff.
A couple weeks after that, I had to do the passenger side and it was the same story. A shot of Knock'er Loose in the am, then barely start to flex when pulling on the breaker bar and it broke free.

Well... Success! Finally got that axle nut off! (actually it's a funny story)
Sheriff, I went all over the place looking for that CRC Knocker. Could not find it anywhere. Had to stick with PB Blaster
since I have this all apart I am doing axle seals (drivers side is leaking bad)
I read the "howto" onthe pavement sucks website, but it does not give much info on the passenger side with CAD
it says to make a tool
"You will also need to build a seal driver from some all thread, some washers, nuts and sockets."
Has anyone made this tool? can someone take a quick pic for me what it looks like? i think I have a general idea what it should look like.
Thanks!!

heh. PB blaster doesn't blow. it pulled apart that front end just fine. he needed a little help from his neighbour thats all.
your cRC stuff just may be the best stuff in the world at breaking nuts, but in the end, big burly muscle arms and leverage out the wazzoo make up for a lack of chemicals.
i've always beena WD40 guy, and that PB buster worked magically on his truck this weekend. broke a ratchet (sheered) on the hub unit bearing bolts. sprayed some PB. came back 20 minute later (or 2 beers?) and loosened it without the breaker bar. ya. i did.
point is, your CRC maybe the cadillac of rust busters, but you don't need a cadillac to get to the store, someitmes a beat up 2wd pickup will suffice (Pb/WD40 etc)
and that hub nut, after sitting in PB blaster for a couple hours, broke loose with the impact when i came over.
so no offence, but your rebuttal of PB blaster is just an opinion, cause right now, i'm thinking pretty highly of it! for the record, anything is better than nothing.
in regards to the seal tool whats wrong with using a big *** piece of pipe the same diameter as the seal and just hammering it in?

Alright here’s the axle nut story from “start to finish”.
It was not “your big bearly muscle”John! It was luck LOL!
So I started on this axle nut on Friday night. It would not budge so I decided to spray it with PB and let it sit over night.
Saturday morning I start at it again.
I had my impact gun on it for a good 20 minutes…notta
I had a 2 foot breaker bar with a 4 foot pipe with me STANDING (200+lbs) and jumping. I broke the breaker bar
Blasted it again with PB and went on the hunt for the CRC stuff.
Came back and put the impact gun on it again… notta
Decided to “over air” my compressor (automatically ****s off at 125psi) I held it open till it was at 160psi and put the impact on the bolt again…notta
I call John… swore and cursed, he said he would come over in the morning and try
Next day…
Got up tried all the above again no luck!! Debated selling it on kijiji for a case of beer
Blasted it again with so much PB I had a pool of it on the ground
John comes over, we have a beer or 2 and I tell him what I tried yesterday.
John grabs my impact @ 125 psi and puts it on the axle nut. And the F’ing thing comes off like the truck just rolled off the line. I look at him in disbelief!!! Un-f’ing-belieavable! I thought he striped the nut at first.

Yes it is my opinion about PB, I'd take a leak on bolt in the hopes that it would penetrate the rust before I would bother with that stuff.
Liquid wrench works much better than PB. CRC Knock'er loose, CRC Freezeoff, Cyclo Breakaway and Aerokroil work much better than liquid wrench. And from what I've read on an antique tractor restoration forum, a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF works better than everything on the market.
As far as the axle seal goes, space in the cad unit is very limited and the seal is in the passenger side of the axle tube when looking at the cat unit. So a big piece of pipe (or a broom handle) would work fine for popping the old one out but you need a seal driver to install the new one from the outside of the axle.
I went to a hardware store and got some washers that were the same diameter as the seal and used that to drive the new one in. My setup was the same as the picture you posted, I used a 5lb sledge hammer head (minus the handle) as the hammer part of the slide hammer. I also wrapped some masking tape around the threads on the end of the threaded rod that was going through the seal to prevent any possible damage.
I kept the washer centered on the seal in the cad unit while my dad hit the other end of the home made slide hammer when I told him to.

Im doing my front end parts as well...my pass. axle nut snapped my 1/2in breaker bar, bought a 3/4in breaker bar with 2 feet of extra piping for leverage, and both my axle nuts cracked free with ease. My drivers wheel bearing is original (200K) and i didnt use any penetrating fluid, and my breaker bar cracked the nut free no problem...
Glad to hear you got them out. Im having a problem getting the carrier out, once i do that, punch out the seal/put new one in i can re-assemble, but of course i ran into a snag with the carrier....
Look at my "Overhaulin' My RAM over the next couple weeks" thread, ive posted many pictures, if you run into a snag, look at my pics, or ask me about it, ill try to help you the best i can, as well as everyone else here will do.

I was somewhat lucky with mine. They came off with the 3/4 in breaker bar,a craftsman socket and 180 lbs of heel. Load up the hub and axle nut threads with anti sieze in case you or the next owner has to take it off again..
i would have just left the axle nut on, removed the brakes, and then removed the wheel bearing and axle all as one and then brought it to a local shop to have them buzz it off.........been there done that...sucks
