Default machining 50mm throttle body

Hey, since i have access to the machine shops at my school (almost all HAAS CNC tooling, mini mills, small lathes, 30HP lathe, 5-axis, and large milling centers) I figured I would make some parts for my truck, starting with boring the throttle body to 50mm for a 318 engine. I have seen the poor mans TB guide and it seems simple enough and i believe i will get a much more accurate surface finish with the CNC mills, plus I thoroughly enjoy using them. I just found out there is a pick and pull junkyard in the area with 15 acres of vehicles, i'm hoping i can pull an extra throttle body off a vehicle there (same size engine). Any tips on machining for a fine surface finish (I have machined a bunch of parts there but never honed anything), or tips on going to a junkyard?

I have a 96 dodge ram 1500 5.2L with 103,000 miles.

usually throttle bodies are only around 12 to 15 bucks at junkyards, i'd consider buying a couple just incase you **** up the first one. Also make sure the butterfly's are even when you put them back in, when i did my fastman mod it took me a couple days and alot of curing to get it back to where it needed to be, your AIC will compensate for some minor gaping in the botterfly's but it will cause your idle to be on stable and will become a pain in the *** to start if it's too uneven.

Default great advice

Thanks for the advice, i should get to the junkyard and get it machined within the next few weeks, i'll post pics when i'm done. Is it possible to cut or find new butterfly valves? If the only ones i find are warped?
