I am having trouble finding what transmission is in my friends truck. A guy is selling a very similar donor truck with a brand new trans in it and I need to know if it will work. I looked at the trans in donor truck and it looks identical but the owner says it won't work because it has different internals?
1996 ram 1500(new trans) Manufactured 8-95
VIN 1B7HF16Y5TS512866
sticker under hood is unreadable??
1997 ram 1500(truck with bad trans)
Vin 1B7HF16Y3VS128104
The sticker under hood says codes: DGB standard duty 4spd auto
DGT 4spd Auto Trans CHR
DHA CC Torque Converter
If this trans wont work, I still need to know exactly what model it is to order parts or find a remanufactured one. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks guys!!

Hey everybody, thanks alot for the info. So the tranny is a 47RE?? A 618? Correct? Which I think is the same as in the dodge diesels?? That is my specialty, dodge cummins. I never new they used same tranny on the gas trucks??
Do you guys think I should just buy a complete rebuild kit and new torque for it? I have a friend that will rebuild it for little $. Or do you think buy a brand new reman one. I was looking on ebay and there are too many different prices from kit to kit and I'd still need the torque...
This is a very good friend of mines truck and I'm gonna do the job for free. I just get worried "rebuilding". It'd be nice to have a warranty too. Seen brand new ones on ebay 975+145shipped. More than he wants to spend though but is that a good deal?
I just wanna do it right not for no $ but as little $ as possible... Thanks again guys!
