So I guess my luck just keeps getting better and better..... now I have a P0783 code and a check engine light on. Good thing I got my truck inspected this morning before it popped on.

damn....

ok, my trannys acting up again.........................

its hesitant on shifting to third with o/d off, it will shift though, but at a high RPMS.....when i turn o/d on, it goes through the a little bit better, and will shift into all 4 gears....

My old boss said TPS immidiatly after i explained what was going on...is this logical?

Also is erratic, sometimes it will shift perfect, then sometimes its hesitant to 3rd.....i hope to god its not on its way out....

I took my truck in today to have a scanner hooked up. Turns out I need to replace my governor pressure solenoid and some transducer. He said its not getting enough pressure somewhere. Where's the best place to get these parts?

MonteC hasn't been on the site in the last three days. I am temporarily locking this thread down until he gets back and has a chance to answer the pile of questions waiting for him.

MonteC is back after a busy past few days and said he will start working on this pile of questions waiting for him very soon. I'm opening the thread back up, but please be very conservative with your questions until he has had a chance to address the ones already waiting for him.

Hey Monte, Just wanted to drop a line and say how appreciative we (at the DF) are of you. I can only imagine how busy you are at work, and yet you still find the time to help us out with our problems. Thanks again Monte. All the best!!!

Default 46re trans questions

My truck- 1997 1500, 318, 46re 2 wheel drive. How can the shift firmness be increased? I am confused about the different procedures for adjusting the bands. Seems like too many suggestions about how to adjust. Any way to find the correct way? Thanks

Thanks for your help.
Seems like you have a problem with your governor pressure solenoid and sensor.

I just bought a '98 Ram 2500 with the 5.9 engine. I'm not sure what trans is in it. He told me the trans was just rebuilt in November (about 5000 miles ago). When I take off in first gear it kinda jerks sometimes and a few times it wouldn't move at all. The rpms never reved up, but it wouldn't move. Also sometimes I get a clunking and a screeching sound. That doesn't happen often, but still it worries me. I mainly notice it if I'm taking off from a stop and have to go uphill. Also I don't have a check engine light on, but it is sending a P0712 code and the code "can't be erased". The guy i bought it from said the check ball was removed and as far as I can tell, there isn't an aux cooler on it. Do you have an ideas what's going on? Did he just BS me to sell me the truck? I haven't pulled the pan or anything yet. I put some Lucus Oil Stop Slip in and filled the fluid to where it's supposed to me (after putting in the Lucus I put in about a half of a quart). The fluid doesn't look or smell burnt. I'll follow whatever you recommend though, your the expert. Thanks in advance.
Well if it didnt need a rebuild before, its going to need one now. Lucas is bad stuff. Id change the fluid soon. Im not 100 percent sure id have to scan the truck but P0712 is the transmission fluid temp sensor malfunction code. If the sensor is shorted out the code will not clear and could be interfering with other electronics.
