MonteC,

Had the same theft happen to some folks I know but they haven't been so lucky as to recover it. They had to purchase a new trailer and they were told by the local PD to buy a wheel boot and boot it when not in use. It's not come up missing in the last 2 years, knock on wood.

Might work for you if theft is high in your area.

Not a good first week with the truck :-( Oh well, I do appreciate your help though.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately thats the risk we run when dealing with used vehicles.

Thats the thing. In the 20 years ive lived in this area there has never been a crime problem. Here lately we have had some questionable people move in and things have started to disappear. Just sucks when you can trust your neighbors. I live on a dead end street and some one hauled an old trailer and plunked it down on a plot of land near the dead end. There have been so many different cars and trucks up and down my road ive lost count. Ive talked to the police and they told me they are having a narcotics problem at that address but havent been able to bust them.... Great.

So who ever stole it had to have been a customer...

But we put a hitch lock on it and i plan on taking it up to my shop and keep it in the fenced in lot from now on.

Looks like the 47/48RE's are V-10/diesel only.... Would make a great upgrade for the V-8 trucks..... Anyone know of a company that makes adapters?

Sorry David, it sounds to me like you need a rebuild. Transmission fluid should not be dark purple, usually means burnt clutches.

FYI FOR EVERYONE: My home computer is screwing up bad, it literally took me 10 minutes to post this. I will make time to use the shop computer. My home computer is going to go in the computer shop tomorrow or Wednesday. I cant stand how slow it is, something is wrong.

Hey Monte, I just installed the tranny I rebuilt and I had a question. I took it out for a test drive to see just how it shifts...it's smooth as silk. No bind up in reverse and no jerking in drive whatsoever. I don't know if it's because of the sure cure kit I installed or what, but it just feels way better then I'm use to. Does this sound about right. I'm just hesitant because this is my first tranny I rebuilt and there's always that little bit of doubt in the back of my mind that says "You f*cked something up, you just don't know it yet". I'm gonna adjust the TV cable to see if I can tune it right. Are there any things in general that I should look out for? I had the battery disconnected for over a weak. Would it have to do with my computer reprogramming? BTW, I ended up buying that Precision of NH converter that you recommended. I went with a stock low stall converter and it feels great. Way better then the OEM one I had on before. Again, thanks in advance.

Edit:
I noticed today that manual 2 on my shifting lever doesn't "catch". I can shift it in park, reverse, neutral, drive, and manual/low 1 but manual/low 2 doesn't catch. It will limbo from drive to manual/low 1.

Monte,

Can I use the gm solenoid conversion from DNJ Components on my truck? I have 94,500 miles, and as far as I know the tranny has not been rebuilt, but shifted great before the governor pressure solenoid went out. If you wouldnt recommend it, I looked at the tranny parts website you gave me (something like wittparts.com) and it listed 4 governor pressure solenoids...which one do I get? I already bought the transducer from Dodge.

Thanks for all of your help.
