Shift firmness? A transgo shift kit will help with that.

If you want to tackle the band adjustment, tighten both bands to 72in lbs, Then back the front band off 1.5 - 2 turns. Back the rear band off 2.5 to 3 turns.

My old boss said TPS immidiatly after i explained what was going on...is this logical?

Also is erratic, sometimes it will shift perfect, then sometimes its hesitant to 3rd.....i hope to god its not on its way out....
Well. You got water in it, a good bit. All the water has worked its way into all of the little nooks and crannies of that transmission. The flushing you did got a good bit out but now all the little pockets of water are going to start moving though. And when its all said it done the transmission may still need an overhaul.

I would at least try to adjust the tps with a voltmeter and see if that helps.

I buy most of my parts from wittrans.com If you search the net or even this board, some members have found them cheaper.

I try. Yes work has been busy but i wasnt on for a few days because i had a trailer stolen from me last week. I had not been sleeping well but then i got a call sunday that the detectives found it at a pawn shop so i put all of my effort into getting that dolly back and had to spend more time at the shop to get things done.

Default Trango Reprogrammer kit install Problems.

Hi Monte,
I have a 96 Ram 1500 with a 42re tranny. I installed the TFOD-HD2 Shift kit in this weekend. The only thing i didnt do was install the new springs in the rear servo, because i couldnt get the OD housing backed off to get to the pin.

It seems to shift good between first and second, but when time for third i need to back off throttle to get it to shift. when it does shift it will go to third then OD really quick. The least little bit of throttle after going into the higher gear will make it shift back down to 2nd.

My book says on band adjustmenats go to 72 inch pounds then back out. The shift kit instruction says just snug the band adjustment up then back off. Also says on the kit instructions that if the rear band is a 3 piece multiband to back it off at a different setting. I just went 2 turns on this after taking it to 72 inch pounds.

Also when i downshift manually it wants to lock uo wheels..

Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Big John

Thank you MonteC and everyone else for the reply. Any reason someone who has always done their own work shouldn't adjust the bands?

If youre moving fast enough and shift into manual low the back wheels will lock up, or break something internally.

As far as your problem, i assume it didnt do this before the shift kit? If not go back through the instructions carefully, you may need to pull the vb down and go back through it and double check everything.

Thanks for the help monte. Turns out I was either to late or the guy did lie to me. Lost all power in drive. I can rev the engine to about 3000 and it'll move but just barely. Towed the truck to my house and dropped the pan and there are metal slivers in the pan, not just the usual shavings. A mopar fanatic buddy of mine things the 1st gear band is shot from the looks of it. Either way it's coming out and has to get rebuilt.... Not a good first week with the truck :-( Oh well, I do appreciate your help though.
