----------------------------------------
.7336 - .7505 | .158 - .159
.7506 - .7675 | .175 - .176
.7676 - .7855 | .193 - .194
.7856 - .8011 | .211 - .212

My question is, is there some rule of thumb when it comes to a situation like this? Should I go with a .193-.194 spacer or should I round up a install a .211-.212 spacer. Thanks again. I really appreciate the help your giving us.
Round up. That measurement isnt as exact as you think. Look at the gaps in between spacers. .194-.211

fluid was dirty (not black but a dark maroonish brown color, had a slight burnt smell, the pan magnet had a coat of metal dust on it, and the front band had a little bit too much tolerance to it(cant remember what we tightened it to id have to ask my buddy he has a little bit more experience than I do with trannys) other than that it looked pretty clean inside. I didnt expect a fluid/filter change fix the issue but was hoping for a slight improvement. Also a new simptom, now if I take a corner(15-20mph and off throttle) it shifts into a neutral also then quickly shifts to 1st gear then almost immediately shifts into second like its not sure what gear to go into. There is 104k on the tranny and im guessing it was the first time changing fluid/filter. im starting to belive it may be a speed sensor? hasnt thrown me an engine light but this week i will plug in the OBD2 reader my buddy has.

Default interchangable transmissions?

1996 5.2 OD auto trans 1500 2WD ...can I use a trans from a 1996 Ram van with a 5.9 engine? The trans hose from the bottom of the radiator blew off, it leaked fluid for about 4 miles, when it was discovered. Stopped immediately, fixed the hose, topped off the fluid, it took 9 pints, and drove it 4 miles to the house, where it took just another pint. Then drove it 1 1/2 miles and there she sits....won't go. Weird huh?

Howdy, I have a 2001 5.9L. I think this truck has a 46RE. I pulled into the driveway yesterday with no problems. The engine light was on a few days ago and it went off a few days ago. When I put the truck into reverse and pressed the gas, it didn't engage into reverse. There seems to be a faint spinning/rubbing sound while in reverse. When I shift back to neutral there's a "click" sound. It's driving forward and changing gears fine. I've read this thread from top to bottom and haven't seen comments about this from previous conversations. Any comments about what I should check are appreciated!

Sounds like something broke internal. But ive never heard of a gear train part in a 46re breaking. The spinning sound points me in that direction, means the gear train is spinning internally but not transmitting power through the rest of the gear train.

But i dont know what in the gear train that would break to cause a no reverse but ok forward condition. Ive near seen or heard of it.

Unless the rear band is not applying, maybe a fallen out band strut or a broken reverse servo.

I would drop the pan and do an inspection of the rear band and the pan.

I have the same situation with my 2001 5.9L 46RE. It won't back uphill at all. On flat ground you have to push it to get it rolling then it will continue moving and pick up speed, but don't hit a bump or turn uphill until you have some speed. I have found that if I park facing uphill slightly, it will move (more than just due to gravity). I'm hoping the band just needs adjusting. I'll try to drop the pan this weekend.

Getting ready to aquire a 98 ram 1500 I believe it has the 5.2 v8 has had a new trans put in it in about 5 years ago. The truck was parked about 3 years ago due to the fact that it only has first gear and reverse. its an automatic. Any ideas of what it might be. I should be getting it later tonight or tomorrow and will see if it throws any codes.
